Our heart ached when we found out at 3am today that SHINee’s Jonghyun has passed away...We couldn’t believe it when we saw the news on Twitter, we were shocked and in denial...we thought “there’s no way this is true!”, but unfortunately, SM confirmed it.  I am going to talk about me and my sister’s journey with SHINee and how they were the first to open up our barriers to K-Pop.

We have always loved and supported SHINee and Jonghyun ever since we completely got into K-Pop in 2010.  We wouldn’t have gotten into K-Pop without SHINee...They were our first K-Pop loves and the first band we genuinely liked.  It all started when we watched SHINee’s Lucifer dance practice.  Admin Zelle (my sister) was 11 and I was 12 at the time and we deeply admired how cool they looked when they danced.  That led us to check out the Lucifer MV, and let me tell you, this is when we first noticed Jonghyun looking so cool and charismatic.  His high notes resonate in my ears and his voice and appearance were unforgettable.  As time passed, we both grew up watching SHINee programs, MVs, and fangirling over every single comeback they came out with.  I deeply remember Hello Baby and other programs and how Jonghyun’s personality was just so playful and like a puppy.    

My heart and condolences go to his family, friends, SM colleagues, and his SHINee members.  It hurts to see to see this beautiful angel leave the world so soon.  Jonghyun took his own life.  He was depressed...and he expressed his depression in his songs...Let me remind you all that mental health is just as important as physical health.  What we see on the outside isn’t what we see on the inside of others.  There could be people smiling, going on with life, but little did we know, that possibly their mental health is not stable.  This makes me think about other idols or trainees in Korea right now who is having a tough time.  Yes, they are our ultimate faves, our biases, but who knows what’s going on in their life right now? We don’t know them personally.  Let us all pray and wish for others to be happy and healthy with themselves and their life . 

I would also like to remind anyone having a tough time right now to speak to your loved ones or contact any National Suicide Prevention Lifelines in your country.  There are people out there that are willing to listen to you, so please do not bottle up your feelings.  We need to stay strong and face ourselves because if we don’t, the negative thoughts are going to keep lingering for days, weeks, months, or years...I hope you all are happy and healthy.  Please, remember to take care of yourselves.

Battling in the voting gauntlet for Team Chrom was soooo fun but congrats to Team Ephraim! It was fun going neck and neck with each other lol hope something like this happens in the future because seriously the hype was so real for this match. Now then, I love Lucina and all but I feel like Ephraim should win this one (though i know it’s gonna be very unlikely for him to win rip)
