The elections are over, and the time is now for the President to keep his promise to act on immigration and grant administrative relief. Our communities were deeply disappointed the President delayed administrative action in September and now, more than ever, we are looking to him to act quickly and courageously. The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) has created an infographic that underscores the importance of administrative action by the President. We urge our partners around the country to send the message that it's time for President Obama to provide clear options to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) and all immigrants. Join us to take action in the following ways to demand administrative relief for AAPIs and all immigrants: What you can do:
Share the NCAPA infographic on Facebook, Twitter and other social media with the hashtag #AAPIs4Relief. Use it with your email blasts and e-newsletters, and include it in actions, meetings and events that you are having in November.
Join the NCAPA Twitter Town Hall from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 7, using the hashtag #AAPIs4Relief and follow @NCAPATweets.
Call the White House at 202-456-1111 to urge the President to keep his promise and use his executive authority to provide administrative immigration relief.
What are our asks of the President?
Provide a clear path to citizenship. A path to citizenship would allow 1.3 million undocumented AAPIs and their families to come out of the shadows.
Keep families together. Every day, AAPIs are separated from their loved ones. Many family members wait years, even decades, to be reunited with their family members in the United States, including 1.8 million from Asian countries who are awaiting family visas. In addition, with the government deporting 1,100 people each day, the United States is separating - rather than uniting - families.
