The Elskling Situation.

I've had a few asks about this that I've held back until I could make a longer post about this situation. Some of you may have already seen the bulletin on Toyhouse, but the artist has also reached out to me directly to inform me about this. They have stated they are okay with this being posted as they have already left the species and no longer wish to participate.

And boy, who can blame them?

But I'll also sum it up in this post.

The situation: Elskling had been doing a number of prompt commissions for other Succubuns members, most notably Pursuit of Diligence. There did not seem to be any issues until they received this message from Yves barring them from continuing to take prompt commissions:

That last bit is significant. Only commissions that were already completed would still be accepted.

Elskling was given NO warning leading up to this and was not even given a grace period to complete any commissions left in the queue, leaving them forced to refund anyone whose commission was not yet finished, as the original agreement of completing the prompt for them could no longer be fulfilled.

Now, in the spirit of remaining the unbiased public forum this blog is meant to be, I don't often weigh in. However, on this one, I do feel the need to give my two cents.

This was handled beyond poorly. There was no consideration given to the situation this would leave the artist in. The least they could have done would be to allow their queue to be finished instead of leaving them to either refund everyone or somehow level up their art to Succubuns' inconsistently enforced, yet stupidly high standards.

And don't get me started on how rude it is to just deem someone's art "low effort". A cartoony, stylized art style does not mean it is low effort, and it is so hurtful to just decide that when you have no idea how much time and effort is being put into each piece.

I know this is a pretty inherently negative space by virtue being a vent blog, but I would love it if you guys could just... Go send some positivity their way, because this is such a shitty situation and Elskling did not deserve to be treated this way.

Their art style is adorable and really unique, so maybe even consider commissioning them, if you have some spare funds lying around and feel like helping them out.

Shame on you, Succubuns.

Separately from this, they also reached out to me again a little later with an apology to share with the community for reselling some things above worth/price paid, which they did not realize was frowned upon at the time. And considering Succubuns doesn't enforce this even with their own artists' TOS, it's unsurprising someone would think this was acceptable.

A new voice! always great to hear.....although with how......calm? things have been recently i fear one of you is bound to start trouble soon.

As for your question Goat, i don't really have a preference on the animal. I admire their aggressiveness and agility but i haven't seen one in years. Not since practicing on them for learning how to cut horns in a-

you know what. i think my time before the whole maze and military general think doesn't need to be touched on. Point of that was, due to horns, goat imagery was often used to represent demons. so....over time i grew to dislike the beasts.

Now though.......i'd consider myself indifferent.

I feel bad for GAs. Their TOS can get violated and Yves won't do anything about it (proven multiple times), they get a huge % taken off the top of their sales, they constantly get their artwork flipped (people join flaffles just to flip), and then you don't even get respected in the community besides your name being put onto a design for clout and money. It sucks. GAs, seek elsewhere that respects you.

Wtf it's so shady that they just alter their TOS like that without notifying people or even mentioning it. Other CS I'm in ping/make a news post whenever they change the TOS at all, even if it's just minor edits to wording, let alone a big rule like that, and some also keep a date at the top stating when the TOS were last edited. I doubt the Succubuns one is legally enforceable tbh though, because if you're changing terms it's required to adequately notify, anyone who joined before that change did not agree to the TOS in that form.

(off anon is fine its me elskling) I kinda just wanted to clarify something about my shock/being upset about this. I was not given a warning, had POD prompts rejected in at least 4 months, or anything else to give me a hint that my work was not meeting standards. I had other prompts rejected for some other things, which I would refund in full if rejected and felt I couldn't correct, but I did not get a rejection on POD in a very long time. I had a mod even comment on a POD I submitted for myself jokingly saying I was "a god of POD" (not my words) and that they were happy to see me do the prompts for myself. I'm sorry if you think my work is low effort, but I didn't think that myself until I was told it and it was put into my mind. I was really proud of my work and excited to draw, and now I feel bad drawing for other people because of what I've been told by Yves.

yves, if you’re reading this (which i know you are! you admitted it on the old vent blog that’s no longer active), please work on your own art skills before making yourself the judge, jury, and executioner when deciding when someone else’s art is “””low effort”””. you are a beginner artist, too, and there’s nothing wrong with that! but you’re throwing cinderblocks in a glass house!!

that part in the screenshots where he fucking nitpicks shit like elskling’s line art and poses and whatever is hilarious. this is the same motherfucker who takes credit for designs on guest artist buns who do all the legwork in drawing the actual design and piggybacks off of the artist’s hard work. i’m sure it’s split 50/50 but he doesn’t even deserve that when all he provides is a “low effort” concept (ha, see what i did there? i threw it right back at him).

hello yves! hello luca! we know you read this blog! and i bet you're scouring it now, since you've realised there might be fallout from your actions yet again.

so! when you read this, i want you to look at yourselves. i want you to look deep within your goddamn souls and ask "is this worth it?". is the way you handle yourselves in public and in private worth it?

take a step back and look at what you two are doing to the people of the community you claim to love. take a step back and fucking think about what you do. because to all of us you just seem to be lashing out randomly when someone does "too much" of something vague that you "don't like".

these people pay for your rent, your groceries, your fucking bougie-ass japan vacations. show them some damn respect.

yves is such a scumbag and so is luca. the fact that they think they’re the arbiters of “low effort” are is laughable when luca can churn out the ugliest same faced buns and get hundreds and yves can hardly be called an artist.

i hope screwing over one of their members in the middle of a medical emergency haunts them but that would imply yves and luca actually care about their community which they have made it known time and time again that they do not.
