Thank you for requesting it! Since this will be my first post here I’m kinda nervous. I hope you like it, anon!
Fem!Reader x Tendou Satori
“Not now Ushijima”
For the past few weeks, you had been trying to summon the courage to ask out your long-term crush, Tendou Satori out on a date. Being a self-proclaimed shy person it wasn’t easy to walk up to him, especially with half of your class snickering about it behind your back. But something in you simply snapped when they mentioned how you, the shyest and most reserved person they know, could never manage to ask the schools best middle blocker out.
With a little encouragement from your best friend, you decided to take your chance as soon as the hallways were beginning to empty.
It was only when you were standing before his lanky figure you had realized what you were doing.
Sweet Jesus, what in the God’s name am I-
“Oh, Y/n-chan! Fancy seeing you here” Tendou beamed upon seeing your face. Being the guess monster he is, you hoped he wouldn’t read your face and think you were constipated.
“What brings you out here during the scary lunch break time?” The redhead spoke in a playful manner.
“Well, I, uh,” your hands found their way to the end of your hair, slightly tugging at them like every time you were nervous, “I was just wondering…If you’d maybe like to go grab coffee sometime?”
The look on his face gave you hope as it wasn’t like anything you’d seen him do. On the other hand, for Tendou, he had known what you were gonna ask him all along. Paying attention to you had only become a habit over the last week or so, once he started acknowledging you and the rumors about your crush on him. Thinking about it then, he was positive he could turn you down gently and without feeling bad about himself. But when he saw your nervous shifting on the spot, and might he add due to his amazing reading skills, he was able to determine how your intentions were truthful and your hopes high.
“I’ll meet you there after school, yeah?” Satori sang as he quickly walked after his friends, his hands behind his head and you in awe.

“Then why did you say yes?” Tendou wanted to cry over how dense his friend’s mind can be.
“Ushijima, look, you can’t turn someone down without giving them a reason to” He tried to explain, but knowing their captain he will take it literally.
“You said you weren’t attracted to her, so why couldn’t you simply let her know?” Ushijima stated, packing his school bag.
“Just call me for fifteen minutes saying we have practice,” Tendou had almost given up.
“But we don’t have practice toda-”
“Ushijima-Kun!” he continued to plead and he could feel his entire body relax when he noticed him giving a stern nod.
Tendou flopped down on his crossed arms and savored the silence, waiting for what he thought would be the longest fifteen minutes of his life. He could swear he would’ve dozed off if his ‘date’ hadn’t shown up. Once he looked up he could notice how you were giving off a more sleek and clean aura, due to your skin looking a bit more refreshed and your hair obviously smoothed down with a brush.
“Sorry I’m late” you mumbled with a huff, sitting on a chair across of him.
“Ah don’t mind! I didn’t know what you like so I didn’t order anything yet,” he attempted to make small chat until the waiter came and took your order. After he ordered his chocolate shake, he averted his gaze towards the nearest clock, wondering how much longer until his rescue.
“So, Y/n-chan! What do you like to do?” He asked, expecting the same answer as always on his 'dates’. Another reason why he didn’t feel ecstatic to go was that he appeared to attract the same type of girls and that became very boring, very soon.
“Okay, promise you won’t make fun of me,” you said, still debating whether or not you should tell him your secret, “I like shounen…Well, anything, really”.
With this newfound information, his whole being seemed to lit up. His usually hunched back straightened and the gleam in his eyes seemed familiar. In this case, you could easily recognize the look on his face. It was identical to the one he’d make when he’d block an opponent's spike. And quite frankly, that’s how he felt. After all of his persuasion to get his team to read at least one shounen manga he would’ve never guessed he’d find his savior in this small ball of somewhat adorable shyness, in you.
“Well well, what about th-”
And there it was.
His rescue call.
His hands fidgeted around his bag as he took his phone out and answered it with a quick: “Not now Ushijima”.
“But you told me-”.
“And you told me, there’d be no practice. G'bye” he finished quickly and gladly went back to your conversation.
“Now, where were we my fellow shounen fan,” he said with the sweetest tone he could muster, trying his best not to scare you off.
And once he heard that giggle, he knew he’d find himself trying to make you laugh more than he could’ve ever dreamed of.
