Hi! As a dragon, what are things you do to get intouch with your kintype?
Hoohoohoo what haven’t i been (caught) doing? Lmao
Let’s see…
Hoard stones (gemstones like Jasper etc) but also sometimes even just pretty rocks I find on the ground lol.
Stick my head out the open window of the car (when I’m a passenger!) because the wind in my face makes me feel like I’m flying again ✨
Buy those chocolate pebbles off Amazon b/c it’s the only way I can feel as though I can eat rocks again.
I catch myself baring my teeth when I’m angry and you know what it’s nice to imagine myself having my fangs back.
I love lying in the sun. Just like your typical lizard lmao. Especially if it’s rocks warmed by the sun or even a patio ima being lying out on that shit.
I like to eat dried meat (like biltong or jerky) because it makes me feel connected to my past dragon-self. Something about ripping it into pieces with your teeth is excellent 👌
Im streaming doing make-up on insta Ill be using my friends account for now which is : _.fucking_everything._ Join if you want, I'll be in ...really lazy Allen cosplay and answer questions. (By lazy cosplay i mean my hair is red and brown and short and ill be hella gay man) Tl;dr: this makes no sence. Come watch me heck up my face is what i meant to say.
Hello ^^ no request, just curious to know your thoughts on how some dragons evolved to consume rocks! I was a dragon who didn't have rocks in its diet, so I'd like to know what it was like. Did you eat them for stimulation? Did they have a flavor? Were they a fuel of sorts? Is it to regulate weight for one reason or another like how crocodiles eat rocks to keep from floating too high?
To be honest I have speculated on this a fair bit, and the answer I’ve come up with is that,
It’s likely different dragons evolved to swallow rocks for different reasons. Some for the reasons you’ve listed, and some for other reasons.
I personally ate rocks for a couple different reasons:
- Partially for the minerals (salt, calcium etc)
- Partially because the rocks in my stomach helped me to grind up fibrous plant matter in my stomach and well as bone fragments so they could be more easily digested.
Fun fact: Many animals today still swallow stones and pebbles for this exact reason! The stones they swallow are called gastroliths.
These grindstones have been found in the stomachs of modern day crocodiles, alligators, seals, and some herbivorous birds!
Animals who make use of gastroliths often lack the necessary grinding teeth to completely and effectively masticate their food. For instance, a crocodile swallows its food whole, but it doesn’t stop to crunch up the bones on the way down.
✨So Mother Nature figured it out by taking the long way round instead of just giving animals the right kind of jaws and teeth ✨
But it’s a fact of nature: evolution is lazy and takes shortcuts wherever it can.
I hope you enjoyed learning about gastoliths with me today🎉🥰
And to answer your other questions:
- It was very satisfying to crinchcronch rocks, especially feldspar and limestone. The softer rocks crumbled very easily which was satisfying, but the harder ones were nice to chip away at and gnaw on.
- Different rocks tasted different, but most of them had a kind of dusty cold flavour (?) if that makes sense. There wasn’t a lot in terms of strong flavours to be honest but it was more the texture and coldness of them that was appealing.
- I’ve heard some dragonkin say that they swallowed rocks to keep in their gizzard as a kind of firestarter to produce a spark when they rubbed together. The purpose was to ignite gas produced in the gas bladder/second stomach/applicable organ to aid in fire breathing. Unfortunately fire breathing wasn’t a skill I possessed so I don’t have tonnes of info about this one lol.
But yes thank you for asking the question! I do find stuff like this absolutely fascinating as you might be able to tell lol. But I hope you enjoyed hearing what I had to say about it hehe
✨If anyone has anything else to add on the subject of rockeating, please do add to this post! I’ll be adding this to my blog directory for easy reference✨
Did you know I started this blog just over 6 years ago now? Funny how much things change but even stranger is how some things never do.
Anyway I realised tonight that I’ve never really made an aesthetic (^) for myself, or even an introduction (v), so here they are, six years late. I’m going to add the link to the pinned directory so people see it. I hope you like learning a little more about me and who I was once upon a time.
Note: I may edit this post occasionally if any new memories surface for me. I consider it not just an introductory post but a record of my past self and what I know about her.
I’ve put some info about my past life Silver below: v
About me
—-
My full kin name is Silver Sparks, (but feel free to just call me Silver.)
Physical Appearance:
I was a European Elemental Dragon (4 legs, two wings.) I had silver scales that had an almost oyster shell quality (luster) to them and a paler, softer underbelly. I also had a pair of dark (almost black) horns that curved from just above my temples over the top of the my head.
While in folklore it is not uncommon for many dragons to be of an elemental cast (read: fire breathing), I was a wind and spirit elemental, and also had some connections to the earth as well, which were strengthened via intentional practice over the course of my lifetime.
I had a rather long neck, a long tapering muzzle and dark blue eyes. I also had a dark frill of long, hollow, specialised scales that faced backward and began at the top of my head and continued down the crest of my neck, tapering out at the base of my neck. I remember I would shake my head+neck (imagine a dog shaking water off but just the head and neck) in order to rattle the frills when I felt threatened or as a warning. When they rattled the sound made was somewhat like a wooden wind chime clattering but more hollow sounding
My wings were webbed and appeared rather a lot more thin and fragile than they really were. The webbing was a grey colour, slightly darker in tone than my scales, through not by much.
I was roughly 10 feet tall whilst sitting in my previous life (around 20 feet long excluding my tail), and had a wingspan of roughly 60 feet.
Though I cannot recall my age at death, as at the time, years passed were not counted as they are today, what I do know is that I lived for a rather long time. My best estimate at the moment is sitting somewhere around 450-500 years.
Territories/Lifestyle:
I lived in woodland and mountain in a time before the widespread of mankind. I don’t doubt they existed somewhere at the time, though I don’t remember ever seeing one, and as a partially nomadic individual, I’d often wander long distances too.
I cannot be certain which continent I lived on, though based upon the plant varieties I knew and the general year on year climate as I remember it, My best guess would be somewhere in what is now Europe and possibly straying into the north of Africa occasionally.
While I was generally at least partially nomadic, it wouldn’t be usual for me to stay in the same place for a number of years, particularly if the place had other draws, such as friendships made or good hunting in colder months. I was also rather fond of collecting herbs and studying their botanical/medicinal properties. It was also not usual for me to return again to familiar territories as I eventually made my way back around over the years.
The places I chose to take up residence were most usually dry caves in woodland or mountain, on a few occasions I took up residence underneath an enormous spreading tree if I found one big enough. I was dexterous and would weave grass mats to cover the ground and trinkets (like chimes etc) to hang from cave ceilings or the boughs of trees. Sometimes I would use these trinkets to mark important places or trails to me.
General Facts and Things-Worth-Mentioning
1. During the time when I lived as Silver, I was reasonably friendly with other dragons when I came across them. Because of my knowledge of plants, I became somewhat of a healer, and had what you might call healing magic, others might call energy or whatever else, pulled from my spirit as an elemental.
2. I kept a small companion (might say familiar or pet) who I think was named Kasharast or something similar. This memory is still vague to me, and though I’m not certain of their gender or exact species, I believe they were some variety of feline.
3. I was omnivorous, and could eat almost anything, though in reality I ate mostly fish and other seafood, roots, plants and other growing things. I didn’t enjoy hunting larger game as I was not fond of violence in general though I would occasionally if necessity called for it (ie; in winter of during a drought when I couldn’t find enough plants to eat)
4. That being said, I had no issue defending myself when it came to it, though only if I had no other choice. I possessed four sets of extremely sharp black claws as well as a set of teeth with long top and bottom canines, which apart from being extremely sharp, became especially deadly when combined with an enormous bite force. I’m not exactly sure how high a force my bite was, though I recall crunching clam and oyster shells as if they were crackers so I’m basing the assumption on that lol. (Fun Fact: My favourite food was salmon.)

I said this in my last aesthetic post but I want to make a separate post here just to make sure it’s seen:
I can’t write original passages for anon requests anymore as it’s too time consuming with no real certainty that the original asker will ever see it.
I put a lot of time and careful consideration into what I write. And it feels pointless to put so much effort in for mystery people when I have plenty of requests from actual followers, people who support this blog, that is who I want to put my time and energy in for.
I’ll still answer anon requests, although they won’t be my priority. I might put some emojis or something where the passage/poetry usually goes but that’s the most I’m willing to do for anon requests.
Thanks for reading! I don’t want to upset anybody, but hopefully you can understand why I’m making this decision.
I kind of think I am a Dragon-kin, because I was throwing my blanket over myself and the corner poked my cheek and suddenly I remembered something. A wing-claw poking my cheek, curled up and feeling this warm kind of tired. There was also a lot, and I mean a lot of green. I'm sorry for ranting but i just wanted to get it out.
That does sound interesting! It might be worth exploring it further. It’s not great to make an assumption based on one single flashback, but who knows! Maybe if you meditate, more flashbacks will come to you x
im so distressed. my friends make otherkin jokes all the time and send me dragonkin jokes and things because ive always hinted at "actually being a dragon," just as jokes y'know? so they won't suspect anything. but it kinda backfired because now they know im uncomfortable around the subject and can tell something's up. im so scared i'll let it slip or something. and besides that, there's no one to talk about this to. you're basically my only hope, haha! what should i do?
It seems like your friends are doing these things as a joke, not realising that it’s hurting you. The way I see it, you have two options.
You can either get rid of them as friends (an unfavourable option), or you can tell them how you feel. I know it may seem daunting, but sometimes it’s the only way.
You don’t even have to tell them you’re dragon kin. Just tell them that these jokes hurt your feelings, and that you’d like them to stop. If they’re your real friends, then they’ll stop. If they don’t stop, then I’m sorry to say this, but it seems like they’re not very good friends at all, and you might need to cut them out your life.
A few years ago my best friend gave me some very good advice. She said; ‘Only surround yourself with people who care about you. If you can’t rely on them to be there for you, then they don’t deserve your friendship.’
Hello, anon!! Thank you so much for asking this!! :D
After finishing up the semester this year, I decided actually to go back to job hunting as it served my interests better! Now, I feel like the things I had on pause have resumed, and it actually feels better!
I've been thinking of what I want to write, and whether I should. I enjoy writing for this series, but no one comments nor reblogs so I am unsure if anyone enjoys it or not. So, I will write what I enjoy and love!
If anyone wants something else, please show some support (talking in tags, comments, reblogs) so I at least have SOME idea of if you like what I wrote for you! I have no idea what anyone thinks about my writing because I haven't really gotten comments or feedback on anything I've written here. Thus, I don't even know if anyone even appreciates it? Please say something if you do, anything is good to me!
