Job 5:1-16
“Cry out, but who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
Resentment destroys a fool, and jealousy kills the simple-minded
I have seen a fool firmly rooted, then suddenly his house is cursed
His children are at risk, destroyed at the gate without defense
The hungry help themselves to his harvest Taking it even from between the thorns And the thirsty drink up his belongings
For hardship does not jump out from the soil Trouble does not grow from the ground
Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward
But if I were you, I would appeal to El I would lay my cause before the Elohiym
He does great things beyond understanding, miracles that cannot be counted
He provides rain for the 'erets and water for the outer roads
He sets the lowly on high and lifts the mourning to safety
He thwarts the efforts of the crafty so that they touch no success
He catches the wise in their own schemes and their plans sweep them away
Their daytime becomes darkness and at noon they stumble as if it were night
But he saves the needy from the sword, and from the mouth, and from the hand of the powerful
So the poor have hope and injustice shuts its mouth.”
