you and royal guard!jisung settle under a flowering tree after walking around the surrounding area of your castle. spring and summer are starting to bleed into each other so you wanted to try and see as much as you can before it gets so hot that you don’t want to move.
“your highness, there’s been something ive been meaning to telling you for quite a while now..” jisung says as he shifts his sword over his lap. “what is it jisung?”
“before i was training to become a guard- actually no, even during my training years i didn’t really see much in life. days felt like they were repeating over and over again...wake up, eat, practice, eat, practice more, sleep. you know i started out at a young age because i was “talented” and “gifted.” he says those words with an edge, and even though it is true, you decide not to interrupt.
“i lost touch with my childhood friends and i just had less time to do what i wanted to do like dancing and lazing around the house all day after and staying up to see the stars and hear the crickets or the neighbors talking or singing or whatnot.”
jisung runs a hand down the sheath of his sword, running his hand down the engravings and the thread that wrapped it at the top. “and then i got appointed to you.” there’s a look of tenderness on his face as he says this.
“i really didn’t expect to enjoy my time around you but here i am...i’m so glad the stars aligned for us to meet and i can’t imagine doing anything else that isn’t being by your side and protecting you.”
he shyly places his hands on yours and you intertwine your fingers with his as a response.
“i..i love you a lot, your highness and i completely understand if you don’t reciprocate my feelings because of royalty or whatever but-“
“i love you too, jisung.”
a tiny gasp comes out of the guard and a smile blooms across his face as he starts to laugh out of partial disbelief and mostly joy.
“do you mean that your highness? do you truly mean it?”
you reach out, placing a hand behind his neck and pulling him in, leaving a gentle kiss on his lips, as light as the petals from the tree above you.
“i truly mean it, jisung.”
suddenly, the sound of a bell tolls in the distance, 6 tolls to be exact. you can feel the both of your moods drop a little bit. it’s time to return back to the palace. it would be wonderful to do so if there wasn’t such a beautiful royal guard staring at you like you created the universe but alas.
“we should go now, i think...i don’t want my parents mad.”
jisung gets up reluctantly, pulling you up with him. “that’s fair.”
“you know though, i’d love to see you dance one day, jisung.”
“yes, really! maybe you can even teach me..”
“tch, im not that good..”
the both of you giggle and banter as hold hands all the way back to the castle. the other guards exchange looks as they see you stroll in but they’re happy for you.
