Hey, Rio here. I just gotta talk to someone. So, I'm a classic high school back of the class nerd, and every now and again I get casual insulting comments. The people who give them don't get how much they hurt, and that the reason I'm so quiet (cont)
is that everything I say gets mocked. Is there any way I can just stop feeling judged? Open to any advice from anyone
Hi Rio this is Garth.
I know it's hard to feel like people don't like you, or to hear them making comments about, but you can't them make you want to change who you are.
You are your own person, and complex, valuable individual, and you don't need anyone else to validate that for you.
The only thing you can really do is realise that it doesn't matter what they think of you, you're awesome and it's their loss. Be confident, be fearless, go out there and do you're thing, because that's cool.
Good luck,
Garth Fitzgerald IV
hey, this is em. could I talk to cas or sam? so my parents dropped a huge bombshell- we're moving to a completely different country in a different continent next june and i'm freaking terrified out of my mind. we bought the house and everything. and i really, really don't want to go. i used to romantisize moving, remaking myself, etc but i struggle with a bit of anxiety and i can barely handle moving house, let alone country. i'm going to lose all my friends, the progress i made in school, (1/2)
Cont: my extracurriculars and pretty much everything. on top of all that, i’ve got to handle a huge, year-long personal prject in school and have to come out as bi to my parents somehow?? i dont know how to handle it at all. I’m pretty overwhelmed and really damn scared. could you help me out?
Hey Em, this is Sam.
Moving to a new country can be scary, because everything is new and unfamiliar and a lot of people find that hard, which is totally understandable, I promise, it's okay to be scared about it.
But if it has to happen, then I guess we're gonna find a way for you get through this, and you will, you'll be okay, things have a habit of working themselves out eventually.
I know that it feels daunting, but that doesn't mean you're going to hate it when you get there, who knows, it might be even better. The point is the transition is hard, but it get's so much better after that, so even though it feels huge and scary try not to panic about it, try not to even think about, because you're going to be okay, you're parents are going to be there with you and these days it's so easy to keep in touch with people online, by email or over the phone, so your friends will be there for you too when you're settling in.
About coming out, don't feel like you have to do it right now if you have to, but if you do ahead that's okay too. Whatever you decide is okay. It might be hard at first, but whatever happens your parents love you and they want you to be happy, it's easy to forget that sometimes I think.
Your personal project will be awesome, trust me, just plod away and don't leave it all to the last week.
Best of luck with everything, hang in there kid,
Sam.
