William Bell had kept his promise to him. Silas hadn’t believed it, all those months ago at the debate, when the idea had first come to fruition. There was a lifetime between then and Will winning the nomination and actually choosing him. Will had said he was his first choice. And SIlas hadn’t even really believed that, when he’d heard it. He knew, of course, that he must have had other people pitching him. But all of these months of Will wanting him on his team... well, he’d come to find a greater respect for the man. He’d made sure to be beside Will when the announcement had gone off, knowing that all eyes would be searching for the pair of them. He felt like an electric current was going through him, buzzing with energy and excitement. There was nothing fake about his smile and as he looked at Will, at least for that moment, felt nothing but goodwill towards him. He raised his glass to him toast. “Here’s to winning the election, partner.”
