Stupid girl, there are no dramatic duels at sunset or bouts of honor. I’m going to shoot you in the chest with a flintlock and take everything from you while you bleed out vaingloriously.

Red admiral?
OMG HI. I'm sorry, I have no idea who you are or what this is in reference to, but I'm assuming it's to one of the posts I've tagged #admiralposting or something? Either that or it's about my pfp, which is in fact a red admiral butterfly haha. I just love these things. But I'm going to assume it's the first option so I can ramble a bit.
I have an OC named Red Admiral. He's a hellhound, which might seem like a misnomer because he doesn't look much like a dog at all, but "hellhound" is just a placeholder name for a species in my headworld Black Dog, which are more like sapient colonies of bacteria? They're called hellhounds because the three distinct members of the species all take on various doglike aspects in their preferred appearance and identify with terms relating to dogs, to various degrees. I'm getting a little off track here so I'll focus back in on Admiral. He is a clone of another hellhound, named Morpho, who took on his own identity and appearance after spending significant time isolated from Morpho in a separate host. His new host, Valentine, was Not Great and they had a loooot of issues together. But at the end of his major arc he's able to abandon Valentine and reconnect with Morpho and its host (Spiky), and they all decide to have Admiral live with them so he can heal a bit.
The entire Black Dog story / headworld was originally an Eddsworld AU, so if you're familiar with that, an easy explanation of Admiral's story would be something like this - Tom's monster form is fully sapient, a piece of it got into Tord (who is a villain for story purposes), and that piece developed its own identity, Red Admiral, which gave Tord monster powers before Admiral decided he hated him. But since the story's gotten quite far away from anything remotely compliant with Eddsworld, the characters are now fully original and the story setting has changed quite a bit.
Thanks for sending me this ask, whoever you are. I recognize this is a lot of rambling for someone who's not familiar with any of my characters at all, but I really wanted to get this out there. I really appreciate someone taking the time to send an ask about my silly little guys :]
Here's a quick doodle I made a while ago of Red Admiral's usual appearance. The red dots are meant to appear like iridescent scales.
