Normal 09 Ghoap shenanigans (Doodles from the lad):
Doodly Squibs (bet Chippollo & me scared you ;p):
Unsurprisingly, I’m still obsessed with drawing Soap:
This was one day after Scotland’s win against Haiti! So my hands were tied. We need Footie Soap in our lives. I might be working on a footie Gaz 👀
fabulous game (Haiti & Scotland)btw loved every second. Both teams were vicious and hungry for a win
Appreciation for magma attendees: We had a fabulous group of folk ^^ You guys were just as lovely are your art, honestly wished I could’ve talked with everyone :>
I finished Veilguard a while back but haven't been able to post anything about it. These are sketches for my Rook, Vian de Riva!
I imagined her as a former circle mage from Southern Thedas who sought refuge in Antiva after the Mage-Templar War. So, she distrusts the abomination on the team. But, you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and - in her mind - Spite's affinity for her will make him easier to wrangle. She then caught feelings for both Spite and Lucanis. It's hard not to when Lucanis is shining those big brown eyes at her.
Eurus is about the conflict of growing in a different direction than everyone else around you, it's about drifting away from values and people who you don't relate to anymore.
I chose Grow as her main song, given that it's about doubt born from new realizations creeping into a comfortable and well settled worldview and ultimately tearing it down to let something more beautiful, wild and free, grow.
Jay being a Ferin, Jay being navy, Jay being a spy...
Jay being a pirate.
Another meaning that I found is Jay trying to let her guilt go (as she mentions trusting her friends in ep. 128 and she talks about decision making with Aurora).
Before, the song also says "a wilderness you kinda miss but we're taught to shut it out, so you shut it out"
We know little about Ava, but Jay admired her a lot. I like to think that Jay's beliefs about justice might've been greatly inspired by her sister. This feels obvious, but having been raised by Jason and very close to the navy, she could've been very different. I often think about Ava and Jay.
Even though I didn't add this one to the playlist it is my favorite song from this album. It's about how people forget to live, instead chasing fights, blinded by fear and control...soooo, yeah, this is about the Ferin's and RAFT.
These are very Jason Ferin-coded in my opinion, very Jason Ferin not wanting to grieve his daughter, very Jason Ferin only going back home when his wife is dying.
And these are Jay realizing that making a choice won't be easy, justice isn't black and white and maybe it isn't about going one way or the other.
Special mention from Eurus:
Since this album is a direct followup to Notos and I thought there's no one better to draw a parallel with Gillion than Jay: being born into a title you didn't choose, with all the weight of expectations, the violent upbringing, the blessing from a god that you don't understand and the crushing guilt. (Plus the probably dead older sister- I still have faith for Edyn 😔).
It does conveniently turn out that running for hours on end without much in the way of distractions is a great way to avoid my usual inability to pay attention to audio dramas, though!
Far enough into The Silt Verses to get to the first episode that starts with an 'extreme body horror' content warning. I now see the actual good thing that years of tumblrcore folk horror have been poorly imitating.
