THE BREAKROOM SCENE WITH THE PHOTOS
The way Ziva waltzes in with a spring in her step because she’s feeling unusually cheery since they’re in such a good place right now, ready to tease him some more
The way she stops dead in her tracks when she realizes he’s emotional
The way Tony decides to share with her, that this is a step he needs to take
The way she recognizes the importance of the photos as soon as she sees them
The way he looks at her looking at them, like, ah ha, I’m sharing one part of my family with another. (Or, he’s sharing the past with his future.)
The way more of the DiNozzo puzzle pieces fall into place, when she realizes his love of movies is not just a personality trait, but the lasting connection to the mother he lost too soon. (Because, as we find out in the next episode, she has her own ritual for the lost.)
The way Tony sees his mom through different eyes thanks to Ziva
“I guess she was the first woman to break my heart and I don’t like to talk about that.” The way Ziva’s face shifts, like she totally gets it. (Which makes her breaking his heart a year from now SO MUCH WORSE don’t get me started)
The way Ziva can read him, offers him insight into himself. The way she recognizes how important this is for him, to him.
The way she looks at him with so much love and affection as he talks about how his mom used to take him to the theatre.
The way he still wants to tease her, with the “did you just quote a movie?” and she teases right back with, “no, i quoted a book, which was made into a movie,” but there’s no bite to her words. It’s so affectionate.
The way the scene is so intimate, so focused on them.
The way the sun shines on them!!!
The way they’re already acting so married. And not just in the funny, lol look at their inappropriate personal space kind of way, but in the partners in every sense of the word kind of way. They carry each other’s hearts.
The way they stroll back into the bullpen together!!! Like they’re sharing this secret!! All moony-eyed and light on their feet! The way they keep making eyes at each other!
The way the Tiva theme plays so gently over them. And gives them space.
This is it. They are so ready. For everything.
