Adnan Syed's murder conviction is reinstated months after he was freed Maryland's appeals court reinstated Adnan Syed's murder conviction Tuesday, roughly six months after Baltimore prosecutors provided new evidence in the 1999 killing of Hae Min Lee. Syed, whose conviction was made famous by the podcast "Serial," was released from prison in October after Baltimore City State Attorney Marilyn Mosby said DNA evidence supported his innocence. Lee's family had filed an appeal, arguing that they were not properly notified of the efforts to release Syed last year. The Maryland appeals court ruled in their favor, saying officials failed to provide sufficient notice for Lee's family to attend the hearing. A new hearing will be held about the evidence to vacate Syed's conviction; the previous murder charges have been reinstated in the interim. Tuesday's decision and the new hearing are seen as a procedural issue, and there is no reason to believe Syed will be sent back to prison. The prosecutor has indicated that there is evidence pointing to other suspects and that the investigation continues. Lee's family said they were delighted with the court's decision. “We are equally pleased that the Appellate Court is directing the lower court to conduct a transparent hearing where the evidence will be presented in open court and the court’s decision will be based on evidence for the world to see," the family said in a statement. #adnansyed #haeminlee #murder #mycelebrityandi https://www.instagram.com/p/CqW09C3ImjS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
13 Podcasts That Changed Podcasting
In an era when the odds are good that you personally know multiple people who host their own podcast, it can be hard to remember those hazy days when it seemed like there weren’t actually that many podcasts to listen to at all. So we all flocked to This American Life, Radiolab, and, eventually, Serial, which sparked… Read more…

Shows:
1. The Case Against Adnan Syed
This is one of those documentaries that really rocks your world. It shows the life of Adnan Seyd who was a senior in high school. He was very religious, close with his family, played almost all sports, had good grades and was even prom king. He was convicted in 2000 to life in prison plus 30 years for Hae Min Lee’s death, which occurred in 1999. With no hard evidence, the justice system really failed him. This documentary is available on HBO Now.
2. Imposters
This series SCREAMS entertainment! One random Sunday I decided to start watching this show and honestly, I’m so happy I did. Con-artists, humor and a really good looking cast. It’ll keep you on your toes the entire time! Available to stream on Netflix. Show by Bravo.
3. Santa Clarita Diet
Ok... I know I talked about SCD in a previous post, but I hadn’t finished it until a couple days ago and... I am in LOVE! Obviously, we are all obsessed with Drew Barrymore, but the entire cast is just so compatible and sweet. Can “zom-body” please give us a season 3?! Available to stream on Netflix.
Movies:
1. Someone Great
I assumed I was going to love this film simply because of Gina Rodriguez, but as soon as this the beginning credits rolled and “Int'l Players Anthem” started playing I WAS LIKE WHOA. Feel good movie times 10! Three best friends must stick by each other’s sides while each of them face difficulties with their relationships. It’s hilarious, touching and SO relatable. Available to stream on Netflix.
2. Homecoming
SHE DID THAT. She mentions that she wanted to give everyone the full experience not just something to watch. SHE DID THAT! Available to stream on Netflix.
3. The Perfect Date
Noah Centineo makes us fall in love with each and every character he plays. This movie is witty, sweet and funny. Must watch! Available on Netflix.
On a side note...
I am currently watching Jane the Virgin, Game of Thrones, The Act, The Voice and will be watching Infinity War: End Game this weekend. I’ll more than likely include them in my May binges or touch base on them a little bit until I finish the entire series. I hope you enjoy these shows / movies as they’ve made my hectic month of April a little more enjoyable :)
