Just curious but which variation of the Adonis story does your Persephone use? As you mentioned in the post with Leuce there’s multiple versions with it but Eros is typically involved in her getting love struck with Adonis. Are Adonis and Persephone still lovers as of Ragnarok or did Hades take care of Adonis like how Persephone took care of Leuce and Menthe?
Hello nonny!
That's a very good question. Here's the story I have.
On Olympus, Eros and Persephone generally don't like each other because of their very different personalities and also because of what happened in the Gigantomachy, but one day one of these arguments went too far and Eros angrily shot one of his arrows at Persephone to make her fall in love with Adonis, who was in her custody.
Hades began to notice his wife's strange behaviour in the presence of Adonis, so the King of Helheim began to investigate and found Eros boasting about his 'achievement'. This enraged Hades and forced him to reverse the "spell".
Persephone immediately left Adonis while Hades, still angry, kept the mortal's soul in the Underworld and Persephone, not caring for Aphrodite's opinion, locked him in a box guarded by Cerberus.
The myth of Adonis is like an alternative version of the myth of Persephone; he symbolises death and annual renewal, while she represents life, death and resurrection.
