So, i still dont know what a headcannon is (and i am decidedly remaining ignorant)
But.
Jack goes to Uni, where he meets his S/O. He brings him/her home for Xmas to meet everyone and much to Marthes confusion he/shes vegan😂😂
Family reaction? Spat out wine? SOMEONE offers fish bcz everyone offers fish 😂😂
Marcus or Gallow absolutely makes the "what about sausage" joke
Anyway...
Lmao this would be the funniest Christmas and the de Clermonts have had some memorable Christmases!
Everyone gets super excited that Jack is bringing his girlfriend home. He's a shy boi, so the fact that he managed to bag someone is a miracle. She's a daemon, so super creative, kind.
Diana really likes her. Just happy to see her boy happy. Matthew is wary but can see Jack is happy and she seems sweet and understanding.
So we get to planning dinner. Marthe loves planning the big Christmas feast. She knows that she course of rare and raw meat and veg of or the vampires, has done some Turkey for the warmbloods. She asks Jack's girlfriend if she has a preference for beef or turkey.
"oh, I don't eat meat. I'm a vegan."
It is deadly silent. Baldwin is the one who chokes on his wine. A vegan? In this family? He can handle blood rage but not veganism. Miyako has to stop her dad from yelling, as she lies across him, grabs the twins to distract him.
Ysabeau and Miriam just rolls their eyes. They could tell she was weak the minute she walked in. Just proves it, really that she can't handle meat.
Phoebe is the one who offers fish. Because she is the diplomatic one and being the only human understands why people choose veganism. Diana also asks Marthe to make some adjustments, as it will give her a chance to experiment with some new recipes.
Marcus makes the sausage joke, because only he can tease his brother, "So you prefer your sausage organic or-" He promptly receives a slap across the head from Matthew.
Gallowglass then continues said joke, by going "So Jack, is your sausage-" Fernando has slapped him before he can continue.
She still loves Jack, despite how insane his family is and he sighs the biggest sigh of relief. And Marthe makes her a delicious miniature nut roast (and glares at Marcus and Gallowglass before they can make any jokes)
hi! do you think you could make diana icons too? yours are just so beautiful!!!
Hi, anon! Thank you so much, I’m glad you like them. I will be doing a bunch for Diana most likely over the weekend so be on the lookout. I also have a set of icons coming out for Matthew x Diana lovers. :D
"Marcus genuinely does not believe she will stay with him and is surprised every time she chooses him because he's lost so much" first of all MY HEART IS BREAKING
second of all how much of that do you think is because he feels like/has been made to feel like a disappointment? (Because of Matthew's parenting specifically. but if there are other possible reasons I want to hear them...)
Marcus' backstory basically explains this so like spoilers for Time's Convert!
Marcus had an abusive father, who he murdered. He lost his adoptive father and mentor Obidiah. Even with Matthew, who had the best intentions, had an emotional and physical distance that did not help and his only instinct is to rebel.
Then enter Phoebe, who is just very genuinely in love with him and fascinated by him and likes being by his side with no obligation. Somehow who chooses him everytime, explicitly.
@katrie-reads _this section from Book of Life has always intrigued me, I’ve just never had time to fully explore it… “Jason had once told him that learning how to be a vampire under Miriam’s guidance had convinced him that there was indeed an all-knowing, all-seeing, and vengeful deity. Contrary to biblical teachings, however, She was female and sarcastic.” Do with that what you will! -
I thought I would turn this into half fic, half character study. Hope you like it!

"Where are you going?"
Jason silently cursed himself as the voice of his mother rang out, seemingly from nowhere. He had wanted to join some of the crusaders, trying to assert dominance in France against a religious minority questioning the Pope's supremacy.
Like his father had done.
"Your father wouldn't want you going out to kill a few protestants and madmen. Even if some of them are daemons."
Jason blinked, confused. How could she possibly know what he was going to do? He hadn't said anything, to anyone.
"And if you are going to sneak around, please, at least go through the front. Everybody goes through the back."
Jason's face fell even further. Could she read minds?
Miriam finally appeared in front of him, looking slightly disappointed.
"Yes, mother. Apologies mother." She kissed him on the cheek before turning to return to her bedroom to read.
"Father," Miriam stopped to look at him, "He said his love for you was more devotion than anything."
Miriam smiled wistfully, "It was."
"He also said once he met you, he didn't have to believe in God anymore."
"What would you like to ask?"
Jason struggled, before asking "Which deity are you?"
Miriam smiled at him, "The one that will teach you how to sneak out of my house effectively. Next month. Go to your room."

Marcus was convinced Miriam didn't like him. Despite her letting him stay with her in Florence whilst he studied, he believed it was a favour to Matthew.
It was when he came home one afternoon after an unexpected assassination attempt did he realize he may have been wrong.
"What on earth happened to you?" She grabbed his face, examining the healing cut on his forehead.
Marcus tried to get out of it "I'm fine. I promise. Don't tell my father."
"I won't." She promised.
A few days later, Marcus was called down from his room to the courtyard, where Miriam stood in front of three kneeling vampires.
The three that had tried to kill him.
"Are these the children that harmed you?" Miriam asked.
"...Yes" Marcus was confused. He hadn't said anything. She didn't have any spies, preferring to keep out of politics when she could.
"Please, Signorina-" The man in the middle's head was snapped clean off his head before he could plead any further.
"You believed you could kill a de Clermont. A de Clermont on my property." Miriam tutted, still holding a head in her hand. She then dropped it and leaned down to the two men who were whimpering like babies.
"If I ever get a whiff of your pathetic scent around my brother again, I will kill you. Do you understand?" She then asked if they would be escorted out as if they had come over for lunch.
Marcus didn't know what else to do but hug her. She lightly patted his back, before pulling away.
"Come on, we have dinner tonight." She walked back inside to get cleaned up. Vengeance was a messy and bloody business, but someone had to do it. Nobody was allowed to harm Marcus, not unless he deserved it.
"Miriam?"
"Yes?"
"Who are you?" She simply gave him a small smile.

Miriam needed a rabbit. Not to eat but for some tests, she needed to run. There was a fluffy, healthy one resting on a tree trunk.
The problem was Diana was practising a cloaking spell and Miriam was trying to be nice and pretend she couldn't see or sense her.
But that lasted all of five seconds.
"Oh, for the love of.." The vampire muttered angrily. She moved Diana out of the way to grab the rabbit. She had tests to run. She didn't have time to wait for Diana to practice her little spells.
"How?..." Diana began, confused and a little disappointed in herself.
But Miriam simply walked away, as if she hadn't just seen through a witch's cloaking spell. A very powerful spell, designed specifically to work against vampires.
And Miriam saw her. Smelt her. Knew she was there.
Matthew still hadn't seen her, so she undid the spell.
"You couldn't see me?"
Matthew shook his head, confused. He'd thought she'd be happy, the spell worked.
"Miriam saw me. Like, she just saw me."
Mathew smirked, "Did you not know? She's a goddess."
"Haha, very funny." Diana deadpanned, but Matthew looked at her seriously.
"Really?"
Matthew nodded, "She's always had that effect on people and creatures. She sees what some of us can't, knows what we don't. She saw bacteria with her own eyes before the microscope, you know? Even her son can't explain it."
Diana thought for a moment. A goddess? It would make sense, "You said that she's old? How old?"
Matthew shrugged, "Old enough that even my father feared her at times. Just by being in the same room as him."
Meanwhile, Miriam smirked to herself and shook her head as she heard Diana excitedly ask questions that not even Matthew would be able to answer.
After all, what was the fun in being as old as she was and having people not mistake you for a God?
Hamish Osborne brings his new boyfriend to meet the De Clermonts. Turns out said boyfriend is good friends with Gallowglass and will ABSOLUTELY lord their relationship status as "new uncle" over him.
Lmao, this would be the funniest thing. At least with Baldwin, he has to respect him as head of the family, but with Matthew, he had equal standing.
Then his friend who he meets when he occasionally goes up to Scotland. He references Hamish, thinking maybe they'll be friends. Doesn't expect him to see him in France, cuddling with Hamish.
"it's inferred that Gerbert has a thing for Ysabeau", like, in the books? :O I don't remember that! In which scene(s)?
In the book, I think it's in the first one when it mentions they were friends once, and they stopped because of Philippe. With vampires, I feel like there is one reason for that. Usually when they mate.
In the Book of Life, she’s held hostage by him to satisfy the congregation. He shows an odd concern for her, despite the fact he’s actively trying to kill her son and other step-children. It's a weird relationship they seem to have.
Maybe I read too much into it? Anyway, it’s something that's stuck with me when I read the books and re-read Book of Life this year, so why not?
