Hi, I just wanted to let you know I've been yoinking a couple of these prompts for future Rimmer/Lister fics; I'm particularly interested in the Pediculus cerebri one, do you think the vines will protrude from the victim's scalp, or is that too gruesome? Good prompts tho, thank you for sharing ❤️
Hi! Glad you’re finding some use for them; I’d love to have links to the finished works when you do finish them!
Regarding the Pediculus cerebri: when I first saw the post, I immediately thought of it more like roots than vines.
Sort of like this:
Because I figured that it was closer to how the nerves on the brain looked. Even though having it as vines would certainly make it look slightly better and relate it more obviously to the other fictional disease involving plants, the Hanahaki disease.
(I thought it fit that it looked like the nerves because the disease is based on insecurities and anxieties. However, I also considered it so be a darkened bloodstream for a moment, because love is so tied to the heart and the head full of insecurities would darken the blood the heart pumps)
I didn’t really think they’d protrude because I wanted to retain the idea that it represented insecurities that are hidden? But now that I think about it, I like the idea of it getting angrier and more obvious, alongside the character’s emotions. I also like to think that it would pulse (just like a splitting headache between the eyes usually feels or like a contracted muscle that will hurt and throb until it relaxes).
Anyway, thank you for prompting these thoughts!
