I haven’t posted any of my dumb dang ideas in forever and I just gotta share my new favorite dumb crossover ship real quick. In fact, it’s not even just a ship. I ship them, sure, but I also like them as just friends, maybe even brothers with different mothers. I just like them. I think they’re neat.
And my new favorite ship is....
Benjamin Kirby Tennyson x Adrien Agreste Chat Noir (I can’t remember his middle name and I did not feel like looking it up. Sorry. XD)
Now, to be frank I quite literally think Chat Noir fits better in the Ben 10 universe than the MLB universe. Not that he’s bad there. I don’t mean to imply that in the slightest. It’s just, oddly, he feels more like a Ben 10 character, I suppose.
So, due to this odd idea on my part, all I can think of is the universes are connected. They are one in the same in my head.
In this odd world I like to believe that as soon as Ben’s secret identity was revealed and he became famous it reached Adrien. Like, he had nothing else to do because his parents wouldn’t let him leave the gosh darn house so he spent a whole lot of time watching and reading whatever he got his hands on. So when he wasn’t obsessed with manga and anime he was learning as much as he could about Ben.
I like to think that as soon as he got the cat miraculous the reason he wanted to be a hero so bad is because Ben was around his age and also a hero and a darn good excellent one. His hero persona takes a lot of inspiration from Ben where he jokes a lot in battle and takes more risks and leaps into action constantly.
It’s why he was so calm and collected when he first started as Chat because Ben was freaking 10 when he started the hero journey and Adrien’s got at least 5 years ahead of him, actual self-defense and parkour skills, as well as knowing fencing and rock-climbing. He’s got a few advantages.
I also like to think that’s why he went with more silver accents as opposed to the standard lime green of the cat miraculous because he didn’t want to steal Ben’s branding. That’s Ben’s thing.
I choose to believe that Ben has absolutely no idea about Paris’ heroes. Not that he wouldn’t care but he’s been so busy saving the universe and trying to catch a break that he never really checked up on anything. The whole magic jewelry thing would so throw him through a loop for a bit until he remembers his cousin basically has magic. Alien magic, but magic nonetheless. And he has fought a few witches and warlocks in his time. This might as well happen.
But I also feel he would just assume it’s weird alien technology. Like, everything in his life is connected to aliens in some darn way so this might as well be.
And I think that Ladybug wouldn’t be a fan of Ben Tennyson much at all. Like, she respects him and he’s saved the universe a few times, sure, she could believe that. But she just finds his methods aren’t really the best. However, she’d probably like Rook and Gwen a lot. Knowing how she feels about liars though, she most definitely would not like Kevin, at least, at first.
In my head I imagine that Adrien has always wanted to be plumber ever since he first learned about them and at some point both he and Ladybug are offered an opportunity to be one but Ladybug turns it down. Since Ladybug has turned it down he just feels obligated to do the same but part of him longs for that badge.
Eventually I think Ladybug would just feel bad for Chat especially since he doesn’t get to do as much as her in akuma battles and he craves action far more than she does. So she decides to talk to him and convince him to reconsider the plumber position. As long as he promises that Paris is his top priority and if she ever needs him he’ll come as soon as he can, she doesn’t see a problem with it.
He ends up hanging out with Ben a lot because Ben’s his idle and Ben’s familiar to him. Of course, whenever Ladybug calls he makes sure to get back as soon as he can unless there is, for some reason, a bigger plumber priority but usually they all understand that his priorities are in Paris.
But Ben just gets so freaking jealous because this dumb cat has the nerve to act so suave and flirt with him (usually on accident) and just run off and leave him whenever Ladybug calls. Like realistically he knows that is the best option for them all but it drives him insane, nonetheless.
Every relationship he has with a girl just kind of crashes and burns because he’s just not the romantic type. And his relationship with Rook is mostly a friendly business relationship. Like, they consider themselves friends but they spend so much time kicking butt together that they do get sick of each other after a while.
Of course, Kevin and Gwen are off elsewhere, living their lives so he’s usually stuck being alone whenever he gets any peace and while he likes having time to himself, he likes being with his friends more.
Chat Noir is so stupidly romantic, it's ridiculous. And while he claims he isn’t as popular in his city with the mask, he’s a hit in Bellwood.
Ben initially thinks he’s just upset with Chat because he’s jealous that Chat seems to garner a lot more attention because he’s a fresh and unique face. He’s a hero more careful than Ben usually is.
But what bothers him most about this cat hero is the fact he dares to make Ben blush 90% of the time and he doesn’t even have to try. He brings freaking flowers any chance he gets. He sings like a free bird let out of a cage. The dude looks good kicking butt in leather. And he can’t figure out why.
It doesn’t help that Chat showers him with endless compliments because Adrien cannot help but geek out over Ben. He’s not quite as forward with him as he is with Ladybug but it’s pretty darn close. Chat isn’t sure he has a crush but he wouldn’t be surprised.
He knows he’s the model but Ben looks freaking good in anything. It’s actually criminal. He believes it’s illegal to look as good as Ben does while kicking butt with no magical armor. It doesn’t help him when he learns Ben just so happens to be a really good combat fighter without the omnitrix.
I feel Ben would love Chat because Chat is so honest about how he feels and what he wants. Plus, the dude is so darn romantic that he doesn’t seem to worry about Ben being romantic whatsoever because he likes doing all that stuff. It takes a lot of pressure off Ben when he isn’t expected to be so romantic though Chat is so good at it, sometimes he feels the need to out romance him.
Chat would love Ben because Ben can be there for him. There’s no secret identities that need to be kept hidden that keep Ben from being with Chat for more than 5 minutes. He likes he gets a lot of companionship. While he loves Ladybug she can’t stick with him for more than the time allowed and she has a very busy life and other friends to be with. Chat only has a small group of friends and they are usually busy, not to mention his father barely lets him hang out with them. But being with Ben is like an extra bit of rebellion with the bonus of getting the companionship he so desires.
Imagining the scene where Ben first sees Chat use cataclysm is far too hilarious to me as well as him seeing the end of an akuma battle and seeing exactly what an akuma is. Chat experiencing all the gross wonders the alien world has to offer is oddly hilarious and cute in my head. As soon as Chat sees Vilgax I feel that would be a pretty dang great scene. And as soon as Ben finds out about Gabriel’s terrible parenting I feel there will be hell to pay.
Have I thought about this way too much, you may be asking? Yes... Yes I have. Do they have a ship name? Yes. It’s Adriben. Is this possible by any means? It’s about as possible as Marinette x Any young DC character you can think of (usually Damien Wayne) and so many people ship those. So I like to think I have the freedom to ship a polysexual alien hero with a bisexual magical girl cat boy.
The added bonuses of this include the fact Ben would look amazing with the cat miraculous (yes, I have sketched it), Chat gets plenty of buddy time (as well as a bonus family because I know Gwen and Grandpa Max would love him), Ben gets someone to game with and that doesn’t make fun of him for being a less than adequate boyfriend at times (even though he sometimes deserves it). Oh, and we can’t pretend like Adrien wouldn’t take any chance he gets to wear Ben’s comfy hoodie from omniverse or his cool jacket from alien force/ultimate alien.
Funny similarities I have discovered; Their powers are both related to some form of jewelry. They both have slightly uptight partners that are think before you leap types that deeply care for them but get so fed up with them at times. They’re both short, green-eyed, teen boys. They both have that one friend that’s a girl that’s kind of an a-hole but means well and is still awesome. They both look fabulous in hoodies. They are both famous in their civilian lives. They both leap before they look. And they both got at least one evil alternate version of themselves.

I’m gonna get into my art of 2020, most of which I never posted because I either didn’t feel it was worthy or it was fanart of friends’ designs that I didn’t feel comfortable sharing for whatever darn reason. (At the end will be bonus fan fic stuff that I’m also proud of). I thought this would be hard to find 8 favorites but I actually found it harder to choose and pick favorites. I have loads more because they’re all special to me in some way. Whether it’s because the actual outcome looks good, or its because of the idea I had behind it, or because of the medium I used, or simply because of how much fun I had... They’re all special to me in some way. But these are the ones I went with, though it was hard.
1. Vita the Dove Kwami of Life
A concept kwami character that I decided to design. I have no idea if I’ll ever go through with the story I had in mind that she would be in but this was just a quick piece and not really finished. I just REALLY love how she turned out and find her so gorgeous. I love LOVE drawing kwamis so OF COURSE there would be a kwami here. I would probably share all my kwami drawings simply because I love all of them not because they look good but they are so freaking fun to draw, however... I don’t think that should really count, but settle for one. Some day I’ll make a few posts, maybe, sharing all my kwami pictures. Anyway, her name is Vita and she is the kwami of life (from a separate universe, the canon miraculous show). I would go on with this concept idea but that would take a while and I’m not sure anyone really cares since most of my art stuff tends to go unnoticed anyhow. Also, I just love Vita when I made her up. <3
2. Wall of Marinettes
I just really like drawing Marinette. She’s just fun to draw. She’s kind of simple to draw with her shapes and stylize. And I love all of theses (but I will say, Dragon Bug looks a little scary, I think her eyes needed a little work and I perhaps attempted too much detail). I also love how I draw Marinette. I found a style I like drawing her in and I’ve stuck with it mostly. Though I have found a better way to draw the hair that falls in front of her ears.
3. Concept Design for Bridgette if she were introduced into MLB
I liked this sketch of a concept design for what I thought Bridgette would look like in MLB. I really like designing outfits, I guess. It’s just a sketch. Not sure if you guys could tell what it is but I’ve always quite liked it. Don’t ask me why, just looking at it makes me happy.
4. Bridgette and Marinette back to back
Again, one of those things I’m not sure you can see what’s going on but I just love. As I’ve said, I love drawing Marinette. Always have even when, for some reason, I was hating her? *shrugs* But right now this isn’t why I love this piece. I actually love how Bridgette looks so much better than Marinette. I think I frankly did a terrible job with Marinette here. She’s too stiff, less fun, and she doesn’t quite look right to me. I did enjoy drawing this, I remember, so perhaps that’s a reason I like it so much.
(I should clarify none of these will really be in order by dates because I am absolutely terrible at dating things).
5. Ben 10 as Chat Noir
I really like this sketch, though, I reiterate again, I have no idea if you can tell what’s going on. I just love the combination of my two favorite characters. I love designing. I love how pencil sketches look. I love sketching with pencil. In many ways I love digital art more but nothing can beat pencil sketching... nothing. I’m not a huge fan of his head but I did this to mostly push myself to draw a male body and this is my first success, to me, in quite some time. Plus, I love neko stuff so that plays a huge part. Hilariously, I can’t date any of my digital artwork but I always date my pencil sketches that go in my two main sketchbooks. XD Also, I may like him a lot because Adriben is my favorite crossover ship and this brings up so many fun ideas. :’ D
6. Lion Felix design by @riallasheng (who you should check out immediately)!
One of those ones that is actually a finished piece (even if I do hate the background color I decided to choose and the shaky linework) that I never shared because it’s a friend’s design and I don’t know, I always felt wrong about posting it, I guess. Most of my friends always say “it’s your art, you can post it, I trust you” but I just always have a hard time with it because it’s not mine it’s theirs. It’s always kind of a gift. But I only like this because I absolutely love the coloring I did (though his eyes could be better). Also, I just LOVE this design so much that I had SO MUCH FUN making him. He was very hard but very worth it. Also, also... Brown is a totally underrated color and I personally love it. :’ D

7. Marichat May: Stolen Hearts
I didn’t get very far in Marichat May. I burnt out real quickly. And while I liked a lot of the pieces this one has to be my favorite simply because of... well, the simplistic nature. I like how Chat looks. I think I did a fair job on Mari (though work still needs to be done). I loved the glow of the hearts and the cracks. I also love how Chat looks. I feel like he’s still missing something, though. Either way, I liked it. I loved how it turned out. It’s soft and simple... makes me feel nice and peaceful. I also love all the emotions it conveys like a touch of shock, curiosity, sadness, and peace.
8. The head of my Ladybug design (or redesign, it’s kind of complicated)
The only other sketching style I like is whatever I did here. I just love how it looks. I love seeing my Ladybug come to life. I personally think I need to work on maybe a different design for her bangs or finding another way to draw them that’s easier because they are an absolute PAIN to draw. I just really love this. I think it’s my best work in 2020 which is hilarious as it is just a sketch. Now the whole design/redesign thing is... it’s technically the design I use as a redesign for LB but also, she’s from the same universe as Vita. I have reference sketch of the back and front of her as well as some concept sketches of her powers and her Tikki and some concepts of her civie form (and a bunch of outfits I designed, though one that looks way better that another one of my friend’s designed). I LOVE her SO much and she’s very special to me. So while I may think of her as both my AU Ladybug, I still also think of her as a redesign, honestly.

1. Just An Umbrella
It was just a nice way to start off the year and I really liked how it turned out. I think it’s cute and fun. I just love it. It warms my heart and it also helped me venture outside my comfort zone as I hadn’t done much writing of Marinette. Mostly, because, at the time I harbored a lot of unnecessary salt towards her and was terrified that would leak through but considering how cringey I found my opinion of her earlier this year to be, I didn’t cringe once reading it. I think it’s a nice depiction of her. ^^ It takes place after season 3 finale and in the universe @edorazzi‘s Mentor AU, which you know I freaking love. Also, I LOVE edorazzi and I know I’m small but PLEASE check her out AND @riallasheng! They are both AMAZING and deserve nothing but LOVE! <3
2. The Butterfly Effect: Miraculer
I’m frankly proud of how this turned out though I do have some gripes, mostly due to how I wrote Chloe. I think more planning should have went into her parts. But it’s a little late now. I shall just strive to improve. And I have some complaints with a few minor things. Otherwise, I’m just happy I completed the chapter I worked so hard on. I look forward to the next, though I am still struggling with its beginning.
There you have it. My only regret this year is I wish I went more outside my “miraculous comfort zone” and actually did more of other fandoms or at least more crossover art with it. I did do some miraculous/Ben 10 crossover stuff this year as well as some Ben 10 fan art and some Sonic fan art and... of course, some animals and some self-potraits. (As well as some tiny other stuff from other fandoms). But personally, I don’t think I did enough. Here’s hoping I go into next year expanding my horizons a little.
