Adrien is going to realize he’s in love with Marinette in the same episode Marinette discovers Adrien is Chat Noir. He’s going to spend the whole episode running to her, she’s going to spend the whole episode running from him.

He’d forgotten the cheese of all things. The special cheese he’d bought and saved in his pocket the whole day to dissuade Plagg from chasing after “magic cheeses”

He’d only gone back to pick it up, but what he saw instead was Multimouse shedding her disguise...and transforming back into His Lady.

And now he knows three things.

1) Ladybug hadn’t wanted to reveal herself as Mulitmouse, for whatever reason.

2) Multimouse is Ladybug. Marinette is Multimouse. And as the rule in physics goes, if A=B and B=C, then A=C...then Marinette is Ladybug.

3) He can’t lose her or Plagg.

So he plays stupid. He knows he’s been stupid until now. It’s so obvious, but he doesn’t tell Plagg. He doesn’t have to. He finds the cheese, dusts it off, and makes on his merry way. He ignores the slight sting of betrayal in his chest when he hears her say “Miraculous Ladybug” for the second time that day.

Adrien:“She’s just a friend”

Whenever Adrien mentions that Marinette is just “a friend” everyone goes like:

And I’m like...why?

Okay, I get it, it’s stressful and annoying for a shipper, but have we really watched the same show?

In the origins, after the famous “umbrella scene”, Plagg teases Adrien about liking Marinette, and he calls her “just a friend”.

But did you all forget what happened after he said those words?

Maybe we should see it from Adrien’s perspective instead. 

He didn’t really have any other friends besides Chloe, so calling someone “a friend” is already very deep for him. Maybe not as deep as “lover” but it still represents something important for him.

Maybe that’s why he even just calls her like that all the time when people ask him if he likes her. If he actually made a move and she rejected him, it would ruin their friendship. So yeah, he might just see her as a friend, but for Adrien, that means she’s an important person to him that he wouldn’t want to lose.
