It takes all Adrien's resolve not to back down when his father stands up at the opposite end of the table. He stares Adrien down, carefully adjusting his tie. If only hiding the Miraculous from view was enough to let Adrien forget everything his father had done. "You invited who to dinner?" His father's voice is just a few degrees cooler than the drafty dining hall. Adrien slips one hand into his pocket, fingers wrapping around the earrings he's hidden there. His other hand makes air quotes as he speaks. "My girlfriend." The silence that follows makes Adrien sick; his father probably manufactured it that way. So much about Gabriel Agreste is an act. Adrien knows that now--especially now. After all, Adrien's become the latest player in his twisted games. But that's not the lie that stings the most. It's that he now has to convince his father that this is all part of the act. That Ladybug--or Lady Noire--means nothing to him. Really. It's that Lady Noire also knows their relationship is fake. That she doesn't want anything different. It's that Adrien will do anything to protect her. It's that he's terrified of accidentally leading her to her demise. Adrien swallows nervously. "I thought that's what you wanted, father. A chance to take her Miraculous."

had an idea about my kwami swap au lovesquare dynamics:

already said this part in my last post, but miss fortune has the fattest crush on élytres but he just really fucking loves his partner and thinks she's super cool (but also all platonically).

meanwhile, adrien in real life is very much crushing on the confident, quippy marinette dupain-cheng (she's only a little shit and smooth with him), who genuinely kind of fucking hates him bc of the people he's actively choosing to be friends with (read: chloé).

élynette is full of a light, flirty back and forth that leaves adrien as a puddle of goo and marinette as a smug lil baby, and adrimissy (still workshopping both the ship names) is just miss fortune staring at adrien blankly wondering how to toss him off the eiffel tower before her lovely partner stops her and adrien staring at her in hero-worship and wondering if it's too much to ask her for an autograph for the missy fanclub

one night, lady noire knocks on adrien's window, he opens his curtains and sees her outside. she waves at him, and he smiles and waves back. he slides the windows open for her and grabs her extended hand, and he lets himself hold onto her waist while she brings him along to a place where they'll both enjoy themselves. after a long time of looking for it, she places him down on the rooftop of the building and they both sit down on a blanket that she prepared beforehand. lady noire wraps her arm around his shoulder while they make conversation, and somehow the topic shifts to marinette, and adrien starts to talk about her and how much he adores her. lady noire decides to listen, even if she knows she’s the marinette he’s talking about.
