Activity Booklet

We were assigned this project to assert our knowledge of the formal elements of typography. Ideally this project should demonstrate a command of hierarchy and organization.

At the time of making this, I was inspired by the SXSW booklets and wanted to make something spiral bound. Though this is not the final prototype (and is missing the cover), ultimately, my book reflects my lack of knowledge of typography at the time and penchant for decorating things in a monochromatic scheme to suit my own tastes. I plan to remake this project for practice and hopefully then it will better suit its audience!

Program TASA Booklet

We were given information for an Arts conference that would be held at our school. We had to take the information and create a visually pleasing and functional guide to the conference. I chose bright colors and a variety of typefaces to creat a fun experience.

This project helped us learn After Effects more in depth. This project was pretty straight forward. You needed to recreate a video our professor created. I felt way more comfortable with the program after this assignment.

Title: Weather Report

Course: Advanced Issues In Typography

Instructor: Tuan Phan

In this project, we explored the idea of type in motion. We created a weather report for four different cities. My project shows them in time (days of the week), and hierarchy. This was a challenge for me at first to wrap my head around the concept of using motion as a aid not necessarily the tool. This project did expand my thought about type.

I picked cities in Kenya to use for this project. I tried to create an African tribe inspired weather report that would appear in a screen-less environment. I chose browns, green and orange because of the natural feel they create.

Weather Report

For this project I had to create a motion piece which represents a weather report in the future. The idea is that they images are floating in the air on a holographic screen and are controlled with a touch by the person who has called the report up.

The video shows various ways that you can organize the information you are viewing.

I encountered a few problems and restrictions along the way, but as a whole, I am quite pleased with the final video.
