Planned obsolescence is bad when talking about things like cell phones and computers and things like that. It is worse when it is medical devices.
I had to have the internal part of my cochlear implant replaced because the first stopped working completely right before the warranty expired. But it’s not just the internal part. The processor I had that I wore on my ear stopped working about a year ago maybe. I don’t know why, it just stopped working. I do not have insurance to go have it fixed and don’t know if insurance would even pay if I did have it. The other processor I have clips to my shirt. It has a long cord that connects to the headpiece with the magnet that connects to my head. I have had to replace that cord so many times. Insurance has never paid to replace parts. The cord is like $70-90. I can’t check for sure because their store is so hard to log into and you can’t check prices without logging in.
Anyway, I need to replace the cord because if I barely even touch the cord it will cut off. Then I have to wait for it to cut back on. When it cuts on it makes a sound something similar to the sound Windows used to make when starting up (if anyone remembers that), but louder. So, unless it sit perfectly still it’s just off and on (Windows noise) off and on; until I get too aggravated and take it off.
At least I hope the cord is the problem. Anything else and it will be too expensive for me to fix. I don’t really want to pay for another cord that will last a year or so, but what else can I do?
I wish they had just left me alone and not put this crap in my head.
