Why buoyancy is the skill that changes everything

At the beginning, diving feels like a lot to manage.

Breathing, equalizing, checking your depth — it’s easy to forget one of the most important skills: buoyancy.

Once buoyancy starts to improve, everything changes. You stop touching the reef without noticing. You move more smoothly, use less air, and feel more relaxed. Even small details become easier to observe because you’re not constantly adjusting your position.

It’s one of those skills that doesn’t come instantly, but builds dive after dive.

Later, when I wanted to understand how divers improve these techniques, I found this page about the Advanced Open Water course in Bali, which explains how training helps refine control underwater.

Sometimes, the best dives don’t come from going deeper — but from moving better.
