Hi! I have two questions about the DCP. First, my top choice role is going to be concierge. I know this is a really competitive role, but I really want to do it. I have heard that in order to do concierge you have to do an Advantage program instead of a normal length one because training is longer. Is this true? Secondly, my school requires me to take two 4-credit classes plus an internship related class. Do you think this will be too much to handle while on the program? Thanks in advance!
Hi there! You're right that it's a very competitive role, and from what I've heard the training does take quite a while. You don't necessarily have to do an Advantage program, however; I have heard of people doing the Concierge role on a normal Spring or Fall program. It's also worth noting that the role usually (but not always) goes to either Hospitality majors or international students. If it's what you really want to do, of course, you should go for it regardless--enthusiasm for a role counts for a lot. =)
Honestly, whether or not that will be too much of a workload depends a lot on you as an individual. You know better than anyone how much work you can handle. Work will consume a LOT of your time, and if you're taking three classes on top of that, you'll probably end up spending a significant portion of your free time on schoolwork as well. So it might be stressful at times to get everything done, but it's not impossible. Like I said, it really depends on how much of a workload you personally can handle. Some people could probably handle it no problem, while others would be completely overwhelmed. You know yourself better than anyone else. =)
