One of my students gave me Helen of Troy as a gift and told me he highly recommended it. My students know how much I love to read. I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd read it already. He was so excited about the novel and asked me for other novels based on Greek mythology. I wrote a grant and was awarded a grade level set of both novels (enough books for every student in my freshman course to take home - 150 of each title). I'll hand O'Brien's novel over to my 10th grade colleague since it's in her curriculum but guess what I'll be doing with Life of Pi this summer? Yeah, I'm that idiot who gets excited about doing lesson plans in their free time.
