Captain’s log, stardate 202005.05... 11/365 I used to sing to The Disney Afternoon theme song, among other themes in this cartoon line up, every time I got the chance to watch it on syndication TV growing up as a kid. One day, my siblings, a mutual friend and I were at a record shop, I believe, at the Water Tower Place long ago during the early 90s. Initially, I had another CD on hand and was ready to get in line to purchase until I came across The Disney Afternoon CD, which at the time came in a long cardboard box.
To be honest, I felt a little embarrassed by it and thought I was going to be judged for purchasing this CD, because it was a kiddie soundtrack, but at some point, I didn’t care. I was happy that bought it, because I wasn’t sure how I would handle it if I heard the extended version of the theme songs today if I didn’t purchase the CD lol By the way, the flute solos in both the vocal version and the reprise version (along with, I believe, a soprano sax), which can be listen to here: https://bit.ly/2YITrbj are pretty nice.
The Disney Afternoon was a two-hour block of four Disney cartoons that aired weekday afternoons between 1990 to 1997 in syndication. The shows rotated every season dropping the first one in its line-up with the other three moving up in the time slot while adding a new show at the last half hour.
