𝚂𝙷𝙴'𝚂 𝙽𝙾𝚃 𝚆𝚁𝙾𝙽𝙶 . shambles is the closest word she can think to describe what stands before them. well, stood. there’s nothing really standing anymore, by the look of it. deserted, crumbling, fallen away. some places, when they fade, have memory etched into surroundings. a feeling of history, at the very least. where you could envision what it had once looked like at its peak, perhaps full of women in exuberant gowns and men in their sharp, ostentatious suits. this can barely be called ruins by this mess. incredibly . . . underwhelming. remaining stone is cool under her touch, and, like everything else here, falls to pieces. sophie sighs and dusts her hands. ❛ that’s what happens when you build everything from illusion. when it falls, there’s nothing to sustain the image. ❜ yet, it’s certainly vapid appearance made it perhaps a clever hiding place. few would look at the mess twice and think there was something valuable within.
