to the little shadow worried about college: college student here! college is so much better! whatever your teachers told you about it is a lie. No, you won’t be expected to write 3 pages in 45 minutes. usually you have a few weeks or mor for projects. teachers are very understanding, reasonable, and accommodating.
I met my best friends at a school event for freshmen the day before school. i strongly encourage attending events and joining clubs. as someone with anxiety, i know this can be hard, so know your limits. (I.e. i don’t go to tightly packed places with crowds and loud music, i always bring someone familiar)
look into the free resources you school offers! mine offers free therapy and a free top-notch clinic and pharmacy. i was able to get over the counter meds and first aid for free!
does your school have a writing centre? if so, use it every time you write a paper. i promise they are so helpful. it never hurts to go in!
if you get lost, don’t be afraid to ask people for directions! it can be nerve-wrecking for some, but i promise you are not bothering others.
find how you study best. do you prefer somewhere with a lot of people and some noise like a common area on campus? somewhere with people but quiet like the library? or do you need to be alone? look into using a study room on campus if you think this will help.
just remember that no matter what happens, whether you get overwhelmed, depressed, or fail a class: everything will be okay. i promise.
Just take a deep breath for me, okay?
What lovely advice. Thank you for helping my little shadow in need, and any others who may be worried about their academic futures.
Oh my, I love this moment...
Hey, I need advice.
so my direct boss/supervisor/head of our department, is not the best communicator. or I should say, he doesn’t communicate BACK to me, when I speak in our group emails, in our Teams group chat for all of us, etc.
I give thoughts or random, stray musings about work stuff. other people jump in, but never him. and when he does type something out, it’s unrelated, about something else, and I feel like he never acknowledges me lol.
I also know that I am highly sensitive, overly so, when I feel like I am being slighted, or someone maybe dislikes me, hates me, etc. it’s an issue I know I need to work on, to not take shit so personally, if someone is super busy, hecticly working on their own stuff. and he’s a partner, so he has A LOT of meetings and other stuff going on that I likely don’t see. he’s a busy dude! a very hard worker!
but I think I need to express to him, for me to effectively do my job, I do need some feedback, some acknowledgment, to my ideas or emails. literally ANY sort of, “thanks Emily, I hear you, I’ll respond to this email later today.” or something like that. and I also think I need to express that I am diagnosed with ADHD, I can get overly talkative, my mouth runs a mile a minute, I think too quickly. almost like, “I am diagnosed with ADHD, an imbalance in my brain, and a slight learning disability. I know I can come on too strong when I speak in meetings, I speak too fast and it can be jarring to coworkers, if I come at them too hot, with too many ideas or long emails. I promise I am working on my communication skills, to slow down, and not expect an answer for my insane 15 questions in a row! But please know, I do need some response or recognition from my superior, to know I am being heard and acknowledged. At some point, after I voice an opinion in an email, which I prefer because I can take my time writing and formulating thoughts, in a coherent way. Please advise if this is possible going forward.”
BUT......... it is no one’s business what my mental health issues may or may not be, that I have ADHD or am diagnosed. and i’ve heard to NEVER tell your employer about mental health, so that it can’t be used against you later. either by diminished responsibilities, or them saying, “this isn’t a good fit.” because I work a certain way.
SO ADVICE, from anyone who has gone through this, have you talked to your boss? have you (either in writing or on a phone call) talked about your brain, the way you communicate or learn, things you NEED to excel? if your brain is like mine, have you done this too?????
help me. if you’re comfortable commenting on this post, or want to anon me, however you’d like! whatever is best for you!!!!! xo
Hi I just have a small question if thats okay, Do you ever get asks that are just worded rudely?? Like idk sort of demanding, English isnt my first language but some of my requests just annoy me while others are really polite and have manners. Sorry for asking you this if it troubles you you dont have to answer ❤
Hi! I do receive asks or requests that come across as rudely worded sometimes. I do try and remind myself that sometimes things like sarcasm or other emotional responses don’t translate well through text, or English may not be someone’s first language, so the rudeness may be unintentional. However, if the message really rubs me the wrong way, sometimes I choose not to answer it. It’s my choice not to make my blog a negative space for myself! Hope this helps 💕
Any advise for an aspiring writer wanting to write Sirius with and original character?
Hello lovely cherub blossom 🌸 Thanks for your question!
The most important thing when writing a prexsisting character into your story is to not write them out of character. It’s very important therefore to do research.
When you’ve done proper research, you can then give him certain traits that won’t contradict canon character. So in sirius’ case (I’m assuming it’s a young!sirius x reader) we know that he’s:
Mischievous
Intelligent
Somewhat of a smart mouth
Arrogant
The traits listed above are the ‘cornerstones’ of Sirius personality. Now, you can add other traits to really flesh your version of sirius out. This is completely up to your imagination. Just remember not to contradict Sirius canon personality.
Good luck! Let me know how your story goes ily ❤️❤️
How on earth do you make online friends without constantly questioning whether they like you or not? My self conscious ass just starts screaming whenever I talk to the.
You’re asking the wrong guy, here. I’m all about questioning if they like me or not, wondering if they put secret messages in their texts.
You just gotta trust them. If they didn’t like you, then they most likely would stop responding all together, they would maybe block you. You can ask them. I had to ask one of my internet buddies, because it was eating away at me. Trust me, my dude, they most certainly like you.
