the distinction between wishes and surprises: lzx&kjn!
advzhixiang:
Time will always be found for those that Zhixiang holds interest in and it’s because of that reason that he shows up on this very day at Jennie’s doorstep; never would he think that the address which he requested from the other would come in handy, otherwise. Yet he stands and waits in front of her door to be granted entrance upon knocking, holding a bouquet of red roses in one hand, while somewhere in the pocket of his coat resided a red-covered jewelry box.
In it resides a set made out of white gold, with a simple floral ornament to serve as decoration; it was light in coloration, which made it versatile in terms of what clothing articles it could be associated with, but the pink shade it came with also held femininity. Perhaps it was something that seemed mismatching with what the girl would often be seen wearing, but Zhixiang would object to it – beauty and femininity reside in every woman, and so she has to be made to shine accordingly. It is for that very reason that he settled onto the floral set, rather than one with hearts or something more minimalist; Jennie was now blooming, growing into a fine young woman and he wished to stress on just that.
The moment that the door is pulled open, the elder’s lips curl into a smile as his eyes settle onto the smaller frame of the other – adorable, he would call her. Yet he doesn’t and, instead, he retrieves the jewelry box to hold it out alongside the bouquet. Three words then leave his lips – not the ones the girl may have hoped for in any daydream or fantasy, rather the ones that were needed, “Happy Birthday, Jennie.”
Frankly speaking, if one were to ask Jennie to name her truest friends on the spot, her pink lips would find themselves parting eagerly to play along with this little game, and yet she’d be left oddly speechless when no names come to mind. Perhaps she could scream Ira, or Lee Suji, but could she really, when she had abandoned the former and will soon be held responsible for the death of the latter’s father?
Perhaps she could bring in the many people she pays for their services, or maybe even some of her moderators, but all those relations can hardly be considered as friends, not when there is the underlying customer and server relationship attached to it.
So imagine her surprise when someone knocks on the door on her birthday—at most, she’s expecting it to be her dear sister, but even that is too much to ask for—and she quickly finds that on the other side of the door stands what fans like her would call, her ultimate bias.
Like a typical fan, Jennie squeals at the sight of his beautiful face. (God, just look at that jawline…)
“Oppa! Why are you—” she begins prematurely, but her voice is stolen from her throat when she catches sight of the beautiful bouquet held tightly in his hand, and a nondescript box in the other. The words tumble from his lips and due to her second guessing her ability to comprehend anything at the moment—this so cannot be happening, there is no way the Zhixiang is here to give her presents on her birthday, where are the cameras and alarm, please do not blare and wake me up from this sweet, sweet dream—but then she pinches herself, and upon realising that this is actually happening, tears begin to well in her eyes.
“O-oppa,” she mutters, and just like their first meet, she cannot control her hands from wrapping around his strong form, “t-thank you for the present!”
(Except she’s not really talking about the gifts he’s brought her, is she? No, she’s talking about him, and the fact that he even knows her birthday, much less bothers to make this effort to wish her is the greatest present she could ever ask for; the material things are but cherries on top of sweet icecream.)
She releases him from her tight embrace and belatedly accepts her gifts, and because she is impatient Jennie, she quickly unboxes the gift in front of him. Her eyes feast on the most beautiful set of jewellery, and even though it is not at all eccentric as is her style, she thinks she will wear these intricate pieces forever, and never take it off. (Okay, maybe only while she showers because she doesn’t want to damage the items.)
Jennie then grabs the hand that holds the bouquet, and she pulls Zhixiang into her messy house as she begins to talk his ear off about everything and nothing, because such is her character.

This may not have been one of her many wishes, but it is surely a surprise she never knew she needed.
