              {  & 》❜     She knew she should have kept her mouth shut. Worrying needlessly about others seemed to be a habit that she couldn’t quite shake off. No matter how much she tried, really. So when she saw an accident about to happen, she had shouted (in a public place, mind you) and instead of it being prevented, it just made things even worse. And even more comical. Juyeon cursed underneath her breath and ran towards the commotion, helping the a man pry off another man who fell on top of the guy she warned. “Are you alright? I warned you but...” She extended a hand out towards him, concern clear in her features. “We should get you to a clinic to get you checked.”

a car? hold up, a car? was he really giving her one? no way, there had to be a catch. right? now she didn’t have to ask her grandmother to borrow her car. she’s choking up on her words, not knowing how to express signs of gratitude. a ‘thank you.’ didn’t seem like it would be enough. not even a bow. she would kiss him on the cheek if she would, but she wouldn’t know how he would take it, nor was she even up for that task. “i know how to drive.. but holy shit?” taking the keys, she wraps her fingers around it. “i’ll take care of it, don’t worry.” she then winks at him, clicking her tongue in a very cute manner. “thanks, el.”

it was her first task that elliot had given her, after that whole test run with the torturing and all that good stuff. well, she thought it was her first task, she just didn’t know it was just another trial for him to see how she would do. the task was simple. give goods to a local gang. simple. straightforward. although, one of the members had managed to irk hyejung. so of course, she had to have her own input before handing over the items. holding the duffel bag behind her back, she sticks her tongue out like a little kid before fixing her stance to show that she was there for business. “y’wanna play? ‘cos i ain’t playin’. you have no idea what you’re dealing with, you little ass kisser.” 

she expected a punch of some sort, but it didn’t come. instead, the fellow just laughs, taking a step forward as hyejung stood there, uninterested in moving.

“hit me with your best shot, bud. but then y’won’t receive what y’want. an’ then your boss will get upset with you, wouldn’t he? so either way, best of both worlds for me. pick your poison wisely. y’want a kid to beat your ass? or do y’want to die for not obtaining these? your choice. really. or better even, y’don’t really need an ass kickin’. i just need an apology before you go stepping on me like that again. y’know. your choice.”

          If the male was about to leave, Lucifer was not the one to stop him. The weekends in ex-Lux were the days when the gods of different pantheons gathered all together and what came with that, was a chain of inexplicable wonders no human would be able to understand. This, and the bartenders had to make sure there was enough of ambrosia to keep the gods content.

          It was not an invitation of any sorts, but before Elliot left, Lucifer pushed open the door in the back of the bar, previously intangible it seemed. Just enough, so that a trickle of light would shine through it. Not wider than two fingers. And yet, magically, a Luna Moth found its way through it and was now gracefully dancing around Lucifer’s fingertips. “If you believe we don’t have anything to offer you, then you should be on your way. It is, after all, your money and your time.”

“well, i guess i get it.”

not really. he wasn’t being clear, and it just didn’t make sense. this whol ‘brainwashing’ business just wasn’t for her. or maybe she was doing it wrong. definitely. that’s why he had scolded her. but what was she doing wrong? everything, right? because there were no changes in how she felt, nor her thoughts on anything. she didn’t feel that at all. 

but god damn it because all she wanted to do was have some kind of fucking job so that she could have a little bit of purpose in at least someone else’s life.

“first of all, i ain’t fifteen. kay, if i’m that persuadable (let’s say i am.) then why are you getting mad at me? for your failure of brainwashing me? ‘cos that sounds like a you problem.”

— Elliot’s chuckles had Dick smiling like an idiot. It was a rare sound, beautiful and warm; the chords of his mellifluous laughter ringed through the air, and Nightwing stopped to briefly consider a lonesome thought. Had he told the same joke to Bruce, his ears would have picked up a sigh, deep and tired like wind through a cave (not now, Dick).

“Yes! You laughed, I’m safe.” He phew-ed, but his relief was short lived; the professor brushed off his humor with the nonchalance of a cat, before speaking words that filled Dick with dread. Oh, come on, can’t a hero get a break every once in a while? He’d been busy protecting the city at night, that should be enough of a reason to give him a pass on his homework!  Cursing his secret identity, Dick plastered a smile on his face and tittered.

“Oh, Elli-teach...” He played his trump card, a secret technique he had learned right there in Korea called aegyo, “You’re so funny! What a joker! I know you wouldn’t do something that awful to your favorite student - am I right? Right? That’s what I told my sick grandma yesterday, she always brightens up whenever I mention how kind you are to excuse me from your assignments!”

With Hyunwoo having fallen asleep in the middle of his professor’s lecture, he looks up at the older male through half-lidded eyes expecting a scolding or two. But the aforementioned assumption quickly disperses within the next second  once he’s aware of what’s just been said. “What?” Was he referring to his friends? No way, right? Hyunwoo knew they were busy all the time so he didn’t have a problem with it. He was busy, too. Sometimes they’ll even forget to inform him of a party but that was fine, too. After all they were just being considerate, right? He didn’t think they were necessarily using him– for what, even? His brain? Did he even have one in the first place? 

“Professor you make it sound like I’m selling myself–” he laughs and it comes out awkwardly, almost monotonously as he didn’t know how to react when he realizes it’s just the two of them. Why didn’t his friends wake him up? Was it true then? No, can’t be. Either way, he didn’t want to hear any more. The words echoed in his mind, pounding it through his thick skull until he’s able to break it word by word and understand it in a deeper level– but he still doesn’t get it ( or more like, he refuses to face reality) it’s then when he realizes one part that stuck out the most. “You can give me so much more? What? What do you even mean by that?”
