Aengus (or Aengus Óg) Aengus is the Irish god of youthful love, desire, beauty, and poetic inspiration. Often depicted surrounded by birds representing love, he is the closest equivalent to a traditional god of romance and lust in the Celtic pantheon.

Aengus

Child of The Dagda and Boann, a god said to be radiant and youthful. Around him flew magical birds which he was said to be in control of, sometimes said to cause them to whistle to lovers who are apart to remind them to come back to one another. He owned a glistening white steed and a golden harp with silver strings, as well as an array of different weapons. He is featured in several tales from Ireland and Scotland telling of him as a possible reason for the solstice, whisking away with the goddess Brigid from the hag Beira, and lifting or casting several spells. In his most notable tale he has a a dream of a beautiful woman and is aided by his mother and another goddess in finding her, only to discover that every other Samhain she would turn into a swan, and is said to have turned into one with her and sing beautiful music to the world.
