Liechtenstein Castle, Austria 🇦🇹

Liechtenstein Castle is a historic medieval castle located near Vienna in Lower Austria. It was originally built in the 12th century by the noble House of Liechtenstein, one of the oldest aristocratic families in Europe. In fact, the Principality of Liechtenstein takes its name from this family.

The castle was destroyed several times due to wars and conflicts, especially during the Ottoman sieges of Vienna in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was later restored in the 19th century in a Romantic style, preserving its medieval character.

Today, Liechtenstein Castle is privately owned by the princely family of Liechtenstein and is open to visitors through guided tours. It stands as an important symbol of Austrian medieval history and noble heritage.
