obsessed with how the gods are helpful but not too helpful. aeolous gave odysseus a very doable challenge, just to sow seeds of doubt against him. circe told odysseus about the prophet and sent them on their way with a few bare instructions. hermes gave odysseus the wind bag knowing full well the disaster that happened last time.
