Leon has been in love with Ada for years. Ada is too busy, thinking of all the ways they could fail, to admit she's in love with him too. It doesn't stop Leon from asking her out, and Ada turning him down every time. We'll, almost every time.

I haven’t fully finished any fics I have been working on for sometime but something grabbed ahold of me and say ya know, why not make some people on tumblr suffer when you write an AEON angst/hurt. However you want to word it. So…

I guess. Here it goes. First part and if you all like it, I’ll make another part.

Shot to the Heart:

PART ONE:

Her datapad vibrated against her hip with an insistent buzz that shattered the fragile moment like glass. The sensation pulled her back to reality—back to the mission, back to the cold truth of what she was. She wanted to ignore it, to keep watching him, to memorize every new detail of the man she'd once known so intimately. But training overrode longing. Her hand moved automatically to the device, fingers trembling as she tilted the screen toward her face.

And then her heart stopped.

The name glowing on the screen seemed to pulse with each thundering beat that resumed in her chest, each one more painful than the last. Letters that formed a name she'd whispered in the darkness, screamed in passion, mourned in silence. A name that haunted her dreams and poisoned her waking hours with regret.

The world tilted. Her breath caught somewhere between her lungs and throat, refusing to move in either direction. Ice flooded her veins, spreading from her core outward until her fingers went numb around the datapad. This couldn't be happening. Not him. Anyone but him. The universe couldn't be this cruel, this vindictive, this utterly merciless.

But it was. The mission parameters were clear, clinical, unforgiving. And the man she'd been ordered to eliminate—the ghost she was meant to put down permanently—was the only man she'd ever loved.

Summary:

How many rooms to reach the bottom of this place, step by hallowed step to the innermost chamber, to infiltrate the heart where it was caged? Being in a stranger's home always filled Ada with the same desire. Not for the things themselves, but for a space as grand and as wide as this, somewhere permanent to live that wasn’t an isolated cabin or a hotel room in the city. She wanted to relish this house, to learn its floor plan like a language, to find the perfect opening.

Or: The world is a screen and desire is a dreamscape history of ghosts. An encounter at a celebrity mansion party in the Hollywood Hills brings Ada and Leon back together to contend with old silences, driving their relationship headlong toward an inevitable eruption.

Pretty good, thanks.

Good news is, I'm over the 250K words milestone. Bad news is, I'm only just past the halfway point in the story I want to tell. I won't blink if the finished fic is 400K words or longer. 😤

It's Leon's fault. He has a lot of baggage!

I also got sidetracked watching River Phoenix's back catalogue of movies because I'm half-convinced Capcom used him as inspo for Leon back in the 1990s, and now I'm obsessed????

I had writer's block for a looooong time for maaaany reasons. And my main laptop's keyboard went nuts. If I try to type 'Leon' it gives me: Dc3el. 😐 Wut?

I have to use my old machine to write. It's nearly 10 years old and can only run Windows 8 or lower. 🙃

Also, why is the second act of a story so hard to write??? I want compensation. 😩

But I've nailed down how the rest of the story is going to go. I'm very excited about finishing it.

Headcanon

Ada and Carla find each other and start fighting, Leon appears, but he's not sure who the Real Ada Wong is, so Ada has to give him a signal only them would know so he won't shoot her by mistake (maybe is a word that reminds him of something they did). ❤️💙
