The Hunt for Boston Lily (fic idea)
Shane loses the memory of him and Ilya's relation/situationship. When Ilya finds out when visiting him in the hospital, he thinks it's best for Shane to never know. To never have that complication in his life (meaning: Ilya).
Of course this only causes Shane to feel like he's missing something, that he's missing someone REALLY important.
Shane finds the contact Lily in his phone and because he was in such denial about his identity and feelings for Ilya prior to the hit, his brain decides to replace the Ilya-shaped gap in his head and replace him with a blurry, almost-but-not quite picture of a woman with blonde curls.
Shane knows Lily is who he's missing, knows that she is who he wants. He texts her until Lily blocks him one day, telling Shane he's 'better off without her'.
Shane knows that Lily is important to him, that he wants her back more than anything, and that he needs to convince her he wants her and they can salvage whatever it is that's wrong. So he does something he's never, ever done-- he asks his friends and family for information about this mysterious 'Lily'.
And from there, things only get more confusing.
His mom and dad are BAFFLED Shane would keep someone serious from them and Shane's also confused, left wondering why he's never as so much hinted he was seeing someone.
His friends tell him they don't know much about her other than her name, how Shane always acted so squirrelly whenever they would ask for details or dared to joke about Shane going to hook up with her when they were in Boston.
But then things get more confusing because Shane starts sharing snippets of memories of her, looking for any clue about who she could be with his friends-- just trying to piece any part of the puzzle together.
And the people around him can't make sense of his memories either.
Shane tells them he has a vague memory of swapping numbers for the first time and it was important because... because... because Scott Hunter is right next door?
Shane remembers laughing with Lily and being embarrassed because... there were cameras on him? On them?
Shane remembers them fighting on a rooftop because they had kissed... and Shane was angry about that?
Shane remembers Lily yelling at him during the Olympics but she couldn't have actually been in Sochi... right?
Shane remembers the name "Jane" and thinks it's important for some reason, though he can't say why.
Shane thinks he remembers meeting her for the first time in a No-Smoking section, where Lily was smoking...
Shane gets so desperate that he lets JJ and Hayden read through his texts with her after getting blocked. Just to see if he missed anything. Their chat is mostly deleted, another question of 'why' going unanswered.
The texts are mostly numbers that Shane can't make sense of and conversations about hockey. Some flirting and of course, nothing that hints about Lily's real identity.
And maybe in a conversation away from Shane, JJ reveals to Hayden that he's done some digging. Some of the dates of the hotel room numbers line up with games against Boston.
Hayden tells JJ that he thinks it's weird Lily calls exclusively calls Hollander, almost like Lily is a player...
