This isn't me...right? ❀ Alter Ego: Round One [OPEN]
The computer starts up quietly at first, the soft whirring noises filling the cabin as if to drown out the silence. The screen remains dark, however and as there's no light on in the cabin, you wouldn't be able to tell it was even on if not for the noises emanating from it.
The screen flickers only for an instant.
And then the noises increase; an unholy mix of static and the voice of the recently departed archer. You can't make out any words, but the angry yet terrified tone it carries indicates that her last moments must not have been all that pleasant. The sounds grow louder, nearly breaking the poor laptop's speakers before it suddenly quiets down. It seems the system has managed to get the program under control, as the static quiets down to a soft hiss, and the voice becomes more audible-audible enough to make out what its saying, although the continued static blocked out most of what she was saying.
"-gi-san? Why did you call-"
"-going on?! Why is Kumag-"
"No! Let g-"
Then suddenly all becomes quiet as the screen flickers on, filling the room with a green static-filled light. The static-ridden image of the archer, but only for a few seconds at a time before flickering back to static. The audio finally stabilized and the voice seemed to mellow out as it took in the familiar interior of the cabin; namely, the dresser, where a red hairpin in the shape of a maple tree leaf sat next to a pretty purple bow tie.
"-llo? What's-what is going on-?"
The screen flickered, enough times so that the shadow of the person entering the the cabin wasn't noticed by her until they were almost in front of the screen, and therefore her. She quickly tried to almost will the screen to cooperate and it finally did-whether by her will or by the program was unknown. The screen now depicted her image clearly.
"...Someone's there, right? I don't-do not think I have this under control, but I think I can see you..."
She wasn't sure exactly what was going on; she knew she'd been turned into an Alter Ego as was the case with everyone who'd met their end here, but this whole...technology thing was confusing her; it seemed she was unable to move, and her vision was tainted by green and why did her neck feel so...oh my god the neck wound was still there. That explained why her neck felt so...off. What a terrible thing to show her visitor, whoever they were.
"O-Oh I am so sorry I don't know what happened. Give a second..."
The screen rippled into blackness for only a second before a new image reappeared, this time devoid of any blood.
"There we are. Sorry about that, I'm not used to...well, technology, let alone one that seemingly controls myself.
Anyway, hello again. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet-or what I am, really. May I help you in the meantime?"
