She couldn't deny one thing as much as she wanted to; with all the wildness that had been encouraged of Lyra, the filth, the lack of any proper etiquette, doing chores like a common ranch hand, Marisa couldn't deny it as she watched Lyra feeding a horse, smiling as she did so: "She seems happy." she murmured softly to Lee.

Marisa's elegantly gloved hands were behind her back, hiding how she was nervously fiddling with them. The two of them still felt like enemies, but seeing Lyra, talking to her, spending time with her, made her want to beg Lee for a truce. "And perhaps... perhaps she's safer out here, away from everything. I know you consider me to be one of those dangers." she sighed. "But if there is something I can do to prove to you otherwise, I'll prove it. I don't want to take her away. I just want to be part of her life."

a smile spreads across her lips at a glacial pace, but that doesn't make it any less genuine. "oh, i bet it was romantic. maybe you guys were on the run from magisterium officers and you had to pull her into an alleyway so neither of you would get caught and then, in that moment, you finally realized just how wonderfully beautiful she is - not that you didn't know, of course, because you've always known, but in that moment, you just wanted to kiss her because she took your breath away."

boreas swoons theatrically and falls off of kie's shoulder, into her lap, and it's moments like these that must certainly make it clear that she lived with performers before lee and aisling took her in.
