Ignorance is bliss.
Or so the saying goes.
Perhaps that was the reason, then, that Noctus couldn’t shake the perturbed feeling that’d taken root in his gizzard. It churned, and snared, fastening ever tighter at the false sense of normalcy that was so desperately maintained by the noble elite. There was a wisdom in not allowing panic to seize the kingdom ( which Noctus understood ) but then there was also playing blind to the fact; almost as if by avoiding looking skyward they could stop the clouds on the horizon from looking quite so ominous.
It was actually quite infuriating to think about when Noctus mulled it over. But, Noctus knew, such a judgement came easily with the insight he had of the personal challenges shouldered by those who’d sworn to face the calamity head on. Nonetheless... it didn’t make it ruffle his feathers any less to see the hylians sit, and drink, and gossip, about such trivial matters after watching Revali push himself to the point of injury. No doubt the other champions were working equally as hard to refine their skills in whatever time they had left.
Noctus sideways glanced at the Rito Champion, curious, as to what Revali may have been thinking about the party. The alchemist was careful not to give away his own thoughts through his expression which remained soft, and relatively neutral, for the champion’s sake. Since Noctus sensed that his presence was, at the very least, some kind of comfort.
The alchemist’s beak parted in a small smile, reassured, by Revali’s compliment. Small as it may have been. The words caught Noctus more than he’d been expecting, causing his eyes to beam perhaps a little brighter than intended. They followed the shift in Revali’s stance, and Noctus gave the slightest of head tilts in curiosity of the upcoming question or remark.
He’d not seen that coming. With a blink of surprise Noctus looked from Revali to linger on the dance floor in a moment of brief thought. The alchemist hadn’t ever danced before. At least... not at a party. Let alone one hosted by royalty and attended to by nobility. “ If you’d care to teach me how? ” The thought was honestly nerve wracking. As Revali’s plus one, wouldn’t it be a poor reflection on the Rito Champion ( or even the Rito as a whole ) if Noctus stumbled his way through a dance? But... he’d come to this party in the first place for Revali and Revali was the one asking him to dance...
“ Since from what I’ve been told I dance like I ‘have two left feet and a third wing’ ” He recalled with a sheepish chuckle. Nonetheless, Noctus set down the glass of wine he’d been pretending to nurse onto a nearby table.
