I’ve been getting increasing elbow pain during bent arm conditioning and I found a TikTok hint on how to doing assisted push-ups with resistance bands. I’m not sure if it was the decreased load or the bands stabilizing the elbow pathway, but I just popped out 30 push-ups at the end of my handbalancing training without any pain. This was a sliver of happiness that I desperately needed

So after buying a flannel shirt a couple weeks ago, and seriously questioning why it’s taken me 30-odd years to discover this wonderful thing, @once-a-polecat suggested trying one of these shirts for a cut-for-women option that maybe has room for huge aerialist shoulders. (I’ve been away from it for about 10 months now. I’m still stacked.)

I’m between sizes, so given shoulder issues and that I’ll be wearing it over t-shirts, I went for the larger size. As you can see in the top two photos, it’s unsurprisingly kind of a sack - it’s about four inches too wide (when laid flat) through the chest, waist, and hips. I’m pinching it where my waist actually is. But, the shoulders and arms fit! The shoulder seams are actually on my shoulders! I can move my arms fully and it doesn’t rip the hell out of my armpits! And the cuffs are a good length!

I’ll tailor down the sides, which will help. I can’t do much about it being too wide across the chest, since that’s level with the armpit, and I’m not messing with that. I don’t need it to fit closely, that’s not the point of a flannel shirt. But a bit less like a tent would be good.

These photos were taken before washing it, and it did shrink a bit. So keep that in mind if you’re buying one. The fabric is heavy and feels like it’s good quality, though it’s only moderately fuzzy by flannel standards.

We’ll see how it feels with alterations and more wearing, but so far, 8/10, would buy again.

My dumb ass just made a very basic fabric theory connection. It’s not like I haven’t been doing this for over 3 years now... 🙃🙃🙃

I don’t think I fully appreciated how monstrous my stamina was pre-Covid until now when I can’t even cleanly invert and my body takes over a day to recover from 2 hours of heavy training.

We did angel roll ups during class today and I felt really stable in them.

The bruises are rising spectacularly 😄

Starting to work connecting my wheeldown releases into my wheeldowns. Suppressing the urge to catching a knee hook is difficult because I have to control my self-preservation instinct (s-wraps are pretty secure, so it’s mental). Learning how to just give myself over to death.

Looool my hip almost dislocated itself during traction drills. I have to be more careful about how much resistance I use. It started rimming (I have no idea if there’s a better way to describe the sensation) the socket so I immediately released the traction and pulled it in. We’ll see tomorrow if there’s any inflammation, but I think I caught it early enough.

When you work beats, make sure you wear a shirt with sleeves. Or else...
