“Here, I think you’ll like this song,” Tsukishima tells you as he places a hand on your shoulder. Tsukishima abandons his typical headphones when he goes out with you. Instead, he pulls a pair from his pocket; the kind with two separate ear buds, only connected by the wire. He slips one of the buds into your ear, and the other into his own. It’s rare for Tsukishima to give you music for you to listen to on your own, because he’ll always prefer sharing music with you instead. He makes playlists for you before each date; he spends way too much time on them, but he wants them to be perfect. Tsukishima likes to play music for you to fill the silence that his own words don’t. He plays music to tell you all of the things that he feels for you, that he rarely finds the courage to say himself. Like that he cares about you. That he wants you around, always. That he loves you. 

As you stand next to him, admiring the art with a newfound perspective now that soft music -music chosen just for you- plays in your ear, you slip your hand into his and give it a squeeze. You tell him, “I love you too.”

Music travels into your bedroom in the early hours of the morning. It’s quiet, but just enough to wake you, and you realize that the space next to you -usually filled by a warm, familiar body- is empty. You frown a little; it’s not surprising that Kakashi was able to sneak out of bed early, but you’d prefer if he was still snuggled up next to you instead. You rub the sleep from your eyes and stretch, before carrying yourself to the sound of the music. You head into the living room, but pause abruptly when you spot Kakashi on the couch. “Oh, did I wake you? I’m sorry,” he says sweetly with a soft smile. But it’s not the smile that has your attention. “It’s fine, but,” -your eyes trail around the room, wide and blinking- “what are you doing?” Kakashi follows your gaze, taking in his surroundings like he’s noticing them himself now for the first time. 

Throughout the small room, eight dogs sleep on various pieces of furniture and the floor, and in Kakashi’s lap is the smallest of the animals: a bunny. The one you brought home. “Well her nose was twitching, and someone told me soft music makes bunnies less stressed,” he explains innocently, petting the animal’s fur softly as she sleeps. “I guess the dogs like it too.” You can’t stop the smile that spreads across your face as you shake your head. “I think you love that bunny more than me,” you say and Kakashi laughs. With a wave of his hand, he beckons you to him. You curl up beside him on the sofa. “No need to get jealous, sweetheart,” he says in a teasing tone. Though when you rest your head on his shoulder, he places a soft kiss on your hair. “There’s always space for you in my arms.”

Kakashi hums the songs that make him think of you. Sometimes he’s not even sure when he heard them, or how he learned them, but as the night winds down and the sun sets over the trees it’s like he had been listening to them all day - every time he looked at you. When he rests his head in your arms and you run fingers through his silver locks, the tunes just play in his mind. “You’re doing it again,” you tell him in a soft voice. It’s not as if you mind, but it’s curious that these songs seem to come from him whenever you’re around; when your body is tangled with his so comfortably. His eyes flutter open and meet with yours. He looks happy. “Was I? Sorry,” he says in a low voice, one full of sleep. You shake your head. “Don’t be, I love it when you sing to me,” you tell him, lacing your fingers in his. “I love when you’re right here in my arms like this.” Kakashi smiles, and captures your lips in a tender kiss. “That’s good,” he says, “Because I never want to leave you.”

Hawks gives you a cassette tape. It wasn’t uncommon for him to bring you little things for (seemingly) no reason. You knew it was his way of saying he’d been thinking about you; that he loved you. He said he found the cassette tape at an antique store he stopped in to kill some time. He picked it out of a large pile; a discarded old collection in a bucket with a sticker that said “.25 cents”. It was the only one that didn’t have an artists’ name, and instead was labeled by hand: “For my red hot chili pepper.” He had no way of knowing what was on it, but he was hoping it was good - with a title like that. When you asked him why he had been drawn to a cassette tape specifically, he said, “I thought that was a thing? Like, people would make a mixtape for someone they love and then, even when they weren’t around, you could listen to it in the car, and have something to remind you of them, right? I don’t know. I’ve never had a car.” With a smile, you kissed him and said thank you. You didn’t have the heart to tell him most cars didn’t have tape decks anymore. So instead, you bought a small radio from the thrift shop. You and Hawks play the tape when you make dinner together on the weekends. He squeezes your waist and swings your hips as he spins you around the kitchen, dancing and laughing. He tickles your sides, and sings off-key with the brightest smile you’ve ever seen. Those moments quickly become some of your most cherished memories.

You find the playlist on Bakugo’s phone, and it’s titled with your name. You hadn’t intended to peep, but you wanted to put on some music and your phone was lost somewhere in the house - discarded shortly after you and Bakugo made the decision to try a new recipe. He’d never minded you going through his phone before, but did that make it okay that you saw the playlist? The playlist with your name at the top, and love songs beneath it? “What’s taking you so long?” Bakugo calls from the kitchen, but when he spots his phone in your hand and the sparkle in your eye, he knows. “You shouldn’t go snooping through people’s phones,” he scolds, taking it from you. But he doesn’t shout. As he reaches for the aux cord himself you say, “You don’t have to play it. I didn’t mean to see it,” you explain. Bakugo shakes his head as he switches the speakers on. “It’s fine,” he says. “You should listen to it. They’re about you anyways.” He grabs your hand as the first song begins to play, tugging you closer to him. “They’re how I feel about you. So you should hear them.”

Daichi keeps a playlist, one reserved for time with you. It wasn’t until the third or fourth time that you were tangled under the sheets with him, and he turned on the same playlist, that you even noticed he had a collection of music just for you. About you, and how he felt about you. “Do you play this when I’m not around?” you ask him, one of those times. “So you can think of me?” Your hand slides up the skin of his back teasingly and he lets out a tempted sigh. “No way,” he admits. “If I couldn’t put my hands on you, I’d just be torturing myself.”

It doesn’t take you long to find the playlist on his account, and it’s easy enough to put it on yourself the next time your craving just a little bit more of Daichi’s attention. The music starts to come from the speakers in your apartment, and you slide up next to him on the couch. Soon enough, his hands are sliding up your thighs. It’s automatic. Trained. Just what you were hoping for. It’s not until the third or fourth time that you put the playlist on that Daichi’s hands still on your hips. “Wait, is this-?“ he starts, but you capture his lips in a kiss before he can ask about your little secret.

Atsumu asks you to dance, in a field of flowers. The sun is shining, and it reflects in his beautiful eyes with a happy sparkle. He slips his hand into yours and helps you to your feet. When music starts to play from the phone in his pocket, he pulls you close and leads your body in steps to the sound of the notes. “This is new,” you say as he guides you into a spin. A little smirk pulls at the corners of his mouth, and he shrugs. “Not really,” he says confidently. He pulls you to him again. Daisies kiss your ankles as he sways with you, and you laugh. “Atsumu Miya, you have never asked me to dance before!” He smiles brightly and rests his forehead against yours. “Maybe not,” he agrees without conceding. “But I’ve always loved you.” He touches his lips to yours, in a sweet and tender kiss. “I’m tryin’ out new ways to show ya, just how much.”

A burned CD was the first gift Sugawara ever gave you. It was in middle school, on a spring afternoon. The air was cool, but the sun was bright, and Suga had asked you to meet him under the cherry trees after class. You hadn’t thought anything of it; that was your spot after all - yours and his. It was where you met in your first year, where you waited for each other to walk home. It was your spot. Yours and his. It wasn’t until you saw him waiting for you, with cheeks as pink as the blossoms on the tree that you knew something was up. “Suga-kun, are you feeling alright? You look like you have a fever.” He panicked when you reached for his forehead, and flinched away. He had never done that before. “Y/N, I need to tell you something,” he said after a long moment. But when you asked him what, he only grew more nervous. Finally, he turned away. “Aw man, I can’t do it!” he said to himself. And then, he shoved a small case into your hands. “Just, listen to this, okay?”

Years later, you switch the radio in your bathroom on and pop in the old disc. When the music starts to play -romantic songs Suga had picked out so long ago- he appears behind you and wraps his arms around your waist. “I can’t believe you still have it,” he says, nuzzling your neck. You push him away because he’s getting bits of face mask in your ear. “You gave it to me. Of course I do.” You wipe off the clay product that was always a staple for your shared spa nights. Sugawara sighs, running a hand through his hair. “Man, I was so embarrassed. I didn’t even say anything.” He pulls your hips closer to his. “I was trying to tell you that I loved you.” He looks sheepish in the mirror. With a giggle, you place a reassuring kiss on his lips and tell him, “Yeah, but I already knew.”
