Now the “Hippie tour” takes us to the Mexican state of Chiapas, one of the most beautiful states of Mexico. Chiapas is a southern Mexican state bordering Guatemala. Its mountainous highlands and dense rainforests are dotted with Mayan archeological sites and Spanish colonial towns. Right in the jungle of the Northern part of the state, I found a real treasure of our ancestors, this “Hacienda”, built sometime in the 1800s during the “Porfiriato” period. This place is a real organic museum, surrounded by history and culture, gathers a series of elements that frame traditions in every corner: like the ladies’s Bedroom, the mural of the “hacendado” or rancher located in the main room, that highlights the importance of hard work, passion, loyalty, and never selling the property and never betraying the people that worked and died before you; Wide and long corridors, the large wood dinning room, the high ceilings, the original kitchen, and when you see the wood-burning oven, it seemed like time stopped. Also they have been efficient at farming natural organic coffee and cacao production. This “Hacienda Chiapaneca” is surrounded by an exceptional and unique vegetation, a beautiful water streams and creeks. Thanks to the efforts of preservationists like this beautiful Mexican family, because by keeping this hacienda standing, they have not only kept architecture and tradition. They have kept the secrets of our ancestors alive.
