what does Bernard do when he has the houseboat all to himself?
• Contemplate ordering a mermaid tail from Amazon and lying on the deck while sunbathing when Tim Comes back.
• Stare at his due assignments. Watches Mythbusters instead.
• Feeding the fish so they can 'become codependent to him and rely on him and view him as a father when the water level inevitably rises soon and they feed on human flesh to survive– Tim this isn't a joke the water is getting higher by the day. Tim what do you mean the tide just does that before it goes back to normal?? I'm hanging up now because your science is wrong and I'm right.'
• Rearrange Tim's vinyls by EVIL alphabetical order.
• Bake something in apology in advance for when Tim has a mini meltdown over his vinyls being in EVIL alphabetical order.
• Feed the raccoon that Tim says he shouldn't, but what does he know? (A lot. Tim researched rabies extensively specifically for a possible future occurrence in which Bernard is bitten by a raccoon.)
• Study while listening to music, gets distracted, has a whole one-man theatre production of Heathers.
• Lie face-down on the couch for 15 minutes in silence bc it's quiet time 👍.
• Frantically writes an entire essay on the creation of chocolate and how it's capable of being used as an agent of hypnosis.
• Clean the whole boat in a random burst of energy.
• Rearrange Tim's bookshelf by EVIL chronological order.
• Wonder why he's here what is he doing why is he just in Tim's boat that's weird that's clingy he's moving too fast Tim probably tolerates him at best why is he like this nobody likes because he's too much and he should just leave.
• Decides that he's talking nonsense and takes a nap while clutching onto Tim's comically oversized Teddiursa body pillow.
• Wake up to Tim back home who is wondering why there's a raccoon in the houseboat. Again. ('That's literally so irrelevant. Just come to bed.')
I noticed you really like Tim and Bernard so I’m curious what your thoughts are on Tim and Conner 👀 (I’m a multishipper so I see the potential in both lol)
Ohh I love them so much, they make me SICK. Whenever I think of them it reminds me of the song Hardest of Hearts they have such a doomed by the narrative vibe to me.
Because there's Kon who is created in the image of this collosal being, this ephemeral beacon of hope who's afterimage proves eternal and he's expected to live up to this massive mantle– and there's Tim who's too smart for his own good and haunted by the past tainted with secrets, having to cling onto a self-made omen of a man who was teetering over the edge, making himself an anchor at the cost of himself like!! Those two are so incredibly not okay!!!
Tim who white-knuckles his way through challenges and Kon who would follow him to the ends of the earth, the galaxy even. Kon who would lean into the blade if it was Tim holding it and Tim who drove himself mad for just the chance of having even a sliver of Kon back, even if it wasn't his Kon there'd still be some part left for Tim. They're pathetic, they're dumbasses, they're doomed yaoi.
They drive me insane. I want to put them in a juice press.
Tim knew well about Bern being such a theatre nerd and didn’t thought much of it. He doesn’t see himself as an artist but always loves to see his boyfriend perform no matter the role and production.
After Bernard is all excited for his role as the Cabaret emcee Tim allows Bernard to ask for anything and he’ll do it for him. Big mistake though😏 Tim freezes when he sees Bern give him that look. The look that kept on begging him to be in a play everytime Bern tried out for a role. Normally Tim would try to brush it off or just bluntly say no but seeing as how it’s Bern’s day he agrees. Though the casting’s up for Cabaret Tim promises he’ll try out for something next production. A promise that he keeps even though Bernard forgot about it and thought he(bern) just dreamed about it. So imagine the surprise on Bern’s face when he sees Tim in the hallway with the other theatre people and anxious freshman all trying out for numerous roles.
it’s only once the castings up that they both see their role. Bernard Dowd: Peter Pan, Tim Drake: Peter Pan’s Shadow/Nana/Crocodile.
Tim had a feeling that Bernard would try out for the lead role and he couldn’t help himself but want to make his first performance be even better for Bernard.
Bernard always imagined Tim in a play to be absolutely perfect but never something as perfect as this. Roles that don’t have any lines for him to get anxious about and he’ll have plenty of moments to shine! Not to mention the shadow role where the two of them will spend some time together on stage.
the lovebirds rehearse their scene together at Tim’s place with nothing but giggling, line deliveries, and practicing the dance choreography.
But on one day after they mastered it it’s the middle of the night for them and theirs a record player nearby. They both know exactly what they want right now and without hesitation Tim plays the most romantic vinyl he has and waltzes with Bernard.
Eventually on opening night Bernard agrees to help Tim with the costume changes (especially because they’d be along together😏) and to also give eachother support if they’ll have stage fright.
And after every role is done and they both quickly switch costumes they both feel a rush for eachother.
That’s when Tim feels the kiss on his lips. As much as he craves more of it Tim unfortunately has to be back on stage in his crocodile costume, but after that crocodile scene Tim can spend all the time he’d like with Bernard when the play shifts to the pirates, in which they share kisses and look at nothing but eachother as their lost in their own little world together.
Backstage after the play is over and it’s time for the bows, Tim and Bernard talk with eachother about this experience.
For one, Tim would like to wear costumes that won’t make him feel like he’s dying of heat.
Two, Bernard thinks he should step away from the lead roles and instead get one where he’ll have enough stage presence to help satisfy his ego and then be able to spend the rest of his time backstage with his boyfriend.
Three, the lovers adored doing this even though Tim knows how embarrassed he’ll be when his brothers tease him about being in the play.
And finally four, once they find a more secluded spot Bern finally tells Tim that he knows about his superhero identity.
Wowza that is a long one, but!! This is absolutely adorable I would LOVE a fluffy slice of life fic where it's just them together in a school production for the first time. (Not unlike Raina Telgemeier's Drama, I've always loved that comic.)
Tim testing out the waters with minor roles to appease Bernard is so cute, especially roles where they're able to share the stage and play off of eachother's chemistry as well as Bernard being there to guide him through any stumbles Tim might have. They would absolutely be that couple who is always slipping in pecks and hugs and general gross pda in between acts and costume changes because they're so cheesey like that. Darla has attacked them with many prop weapons because of this actually.
I can also see Tim working in stage management or technical directing more often than not! The stage being more of Bernard's thing and him being more than happy to let Bear do his thing while Tim gets to channel his energy productively in extracurriculars where he can facilitate smooth sailing to his satisfaction. Best of both worlds for them.
Out of the theaters from seeing ORV, and I must say: the movie is not nearly as terrible as I was fortifying myself to expect. Of course, there were eyebrow raises and core narrative points that invoked some disappointment– but I do personally find it to be an enjoyable watch.
Dokja compartmentalizing the concept of killing others in a pile of bodies to climb your way to the top on your lonesome as something so disappointing, so despicable and unfortunate, that seeing Joonghyuk doing such a thing dissatisfied him greatly. He couldn't see that as a life anyone should live, let alone an ending anyone deserved.
He, of course, falters somewhat when faced with the blunt reality of survival- though seeing his companions fight on ahead despite him telling them not to, and again in protection of him, showed him just exactly what kind of ending he wanted to true for. A shared one.
I totally definetly absolutely understand that this is not exact to the ORV we know, and I am of course upset over some factors, but: this is an adaptation. Say it with me everyone: "This is an adaptation of a 551 chapter novel made palatable for a family audience." Where there are bound to be newcomers, no less.
In fear of proving tangential, I must say that I feel as though going in with realistic expectations and an open mind was paramount to watching this movie. Were there some things that I would have changed? Absolutely. Was this as bad as Percy Jackson? Nope! And I will always always always consider such to be a huge win.
There were scenes that made me perk up and bounce and kick my legs a little, and the more and more I think on the nature of the film, I am reminded of one of the premises of ORV; all stories are worthy of love. And I think I may grow to love this movie.
as embarrassed as I am to ask this, could I tell you some of my headcanons for Bernard Dowd? Also plays will be involved.
No no don't be embarrassed, of COURSE I'd love to hear them!!! You're genuinely such a fun person to talk to and theatre kid Bernard is my EVERYTHING, yap away!!
Steph being a surrogate mother for timber/timbersteph
Ariana being a surrogate mother for timber/timbeariana
First, Timbeariana is such a cute ship name?? I love that. Second, I'll need to think more on their ship potential, but for now I can't see her being a surrogate mother for them. The way Tim and Ariana were towards the end of their relationship, it's was like they weren't really happy with each other, and I think now they've made peace that they were dumb kids, and now they're just chill friends.
I can however, see on the off chance that she gets pregnant and decides to carry them to term and find them a family the way Stephanie did, she'd ask if they'd like to raise the baby instead.
For TimBerSteph/Stephanie, I think she has a lot of growing and maybe even healing to do before having another baby because teenage pregnancy? Traumatizing– and pregnancy in general especially so– but I like to think that Tim and Bernard would be low-key hovering and pestering her on her health and comfort to the point that she'd honestly be a little sick of it.
They talk about the surrogate/having a baby together idea a little uncertainly at first, but when they decide 'we're doing this' it's very serious business. Stephanie needs to be pampered and coddled and 100% free of stress and she kind of wants to strangle the two but the last thing the three want is for this pregnancy to be anything like her last one.
Also to be completely honest, I feel as though Tim would create a little lab baby with all of their dna, so the true birth giver here would be him, but Bernard would be the one to find some troubled kid on the street, go 'i am not letting this child go about life lost and alone like i did' and take them home.
Lowk considering screenshotting all of my Bernard posts and moving them to Pinterest because they are SORELY lacking in Bernard content. So if you go over there and see a bunch of posts from a pan flag coloured Pomeranian ranting about that blonde boy when you search his name yes I'm sorry that's my fault.
