Hi Miss Charrie! I hope I'm not disturbing you but I would like to inquire regarding the program for Aetas in Pampanga you held. I'm Ysh and I'm a third year student of Broadcast Communication in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Manila. We are working on this short film basically about friendship and our casting will be needing an Aeta father and daughter and a community of Aetas. Could you help us with the contact numbers of the people whom we will be needing for this endeavor?
Hi Ysh! :)
it is my pleasure to help you with your project, no worries :) and i appreciate your time and effort in reaching out.
anyway, please contact Sister Angela Bingan,
she is the head of the Aeta Community at Sito Target:
AETA COMMUNITY @ Sitio Target Angeles City, Pampanga
This year, my friends and I decided to return to the first Community that we have visited way back our High School Days - The Aeta Community. :)
We feel blessed that God allowed us to find Sister Angela's contact information who have helped us with our Feeding Program last December 7, 2013.
Sister Angela personally suggested to held a Feeding Program because their primary need is FOOD. She told us that most Kids in the community are suffering from hunger.
For our Feeding Program, we decided to give them a Lunch Meal and a Snack Meal.
FOR LUNCH:
Rice + Chicken/Pork Adobo + Hard Boiled Egg + Juice
FOR SNACK:
Hotdog with Marshmallow + Biscuits + Juice
We started slicing Onions, Garlic and Potatoes around 10:0pm the night before the event.
Then we proceed with the boiling of the pork and chicken separately.
We cooked the Rice to three (3) different Rice Cookers simultaneously starting around 3:00am in the morning until the whole sack is finished.
Hard boiled eggs was the easiest to prepare.
In between the cooking, some of us were preparing the Toys for our prizes in our Games - as well as Biscuits, Donations and Loot Bags.
Adobo was finally cooked around 6:00 in the morning, on the day of our event.
After cooking the Adobo, the Hotdogs followed next.
We were having our breakfast while the hotdogs are being cooked.
Also, some were already taking their baths, while some more are packing and arranging everything in the vehicle.
It was around 9:00 when everything finally done.
Yes, we did not sleep. :)
Some of us were lucky to get a nap, but had to wake up to take turns in cooking.
We travelled by 9:30am and head on to NLEX.
We took the San Fernando Exit and meet Sister Angela's Secretary at the Holy Family School in Angeles.
She was asked by Sister to accompany us on our travel and during the whole program.
From the Angeles area, we travelled going to Sitio Target.
First, you'll reach a huge Korean Community.
We were surprised to see all these Korean establisments. There were numerous Korean restaurants, shops, supermarkerts and plazas.
Its a long stretch of Korean businesses.
After this, you will reach a rough road going to the area.
Here are some of the views you will see along the way.
This is the reason why the Secretary of Sister Angela accompanied us because the area is so hard to reach.
And finally, we reached the place.
Just to inform you, that these cars are owned by the Koreans.
There is a restaurant beside the Aeta Community where these Koreans enjoy a sumptuous meal before heading to the Hot Spring/Spa up in the mountain.
They parked their cars here and transfer to the rented 4x4 Jeep for the trail ride up and enjoy - what they describe as a "Korean Paradise."
FEEDING PROGRAM:
Upon arrival at around 12:00 noon, these Kids welcomed us with a smile, a wave and some a hand-shake. :)
Then, we started preparing the lunch of the children.
We just let them sit on their place and instructed them to wait for us to come and give them their meal.
This is to refrain the Kids from getting in line for long minutes and as well as creating disorders and troubles.
Good thing that there were around 6 students from the Holy Angel University who coincidentally, were also in the area for their Carolling Project of their Religion Class, who assisted us in the distribution of food.
As well as these adults, who are the person-in-charge in their community, helped us in making sure that every kid received their meal.
Finally, everyone is enjoying their food. :)
Since there were more food left, we were able to fed the mothers/parents and more Aeta People within the Community.
This time, we let them fall in line.
And then, sadly, the food was over.
There were still many of them who were in line but was not able to get a lunch meal - including us. But of course, it is them that we were worried about.
AFTER EATING, we cleaned the area...
and WE STARTED WITH THE GAMES.
Of course, since they have just eaten, we had a game that wouldn't require them to move a lot.
Afterwards, we had a "Pabitin" - which seemed like it is one of their favorite games. :)
Even the parents/personnels requested if one of the "Pabitins" could be given to them.
Then, we had some relays, which gave the Aetas more fun and laugther. :)
We truly enjoyed being with the AETA COMMUNITY @ SITIO TARGET, ANGELES CITY, PAMPANGA.
It was such an overwhelming experience for everyone of us. I couldn't help but cry while I was giving a speech.
We're very thankful to everyone who donated, helped and supported us on this event.
And of course to God, for giving us this blessing and opportunity to share and help.
Thank you so much to the Aeta Kids for the gift of friendship. :)
We look forward to be back. :)
If you are looking for a community to help, i hope you can consider to spend some time to visit and bond with them.
Right now, their primary need is FOOD.
There are a lot of malnourished children in the community who are dying because of hunger.
Any amount and kind of help will be greatly appreciated.
being with the #Aeta Kids yesterday and holding a Feeding Program for more than 100 Aetas was such an overwhelming and priceless experience.
its even hard to describe how warmly they have welcomed everyone of us.
we would like to thank everyone who have helped us and have made this event possible.
thank you to Sister Angela who have assisted us althrough out the event.
and of course to God for giving us this opportunity and allowing us to share and meet everyone.
God bless us all.
we hope to be back soon.😊
