Noodling a potential future campaign set in a Spelljammer/Aether Sea inspired homebrew setting. I’ve never played or run anything in a setting like that, but I love the idea of Firefly/Star Wars fantasy space adventures.
Goblin-manned pirate spaceships, dwarven mining planets, and evil liches operating on the dark side of moons sounds freakin’ awesome.
Has anyone run anything like this in 5e? Did you have any luck? Any tips?
11. RPG with well supported one-shots.
Can't go past Fate! The creators, Evil Hat, have run multiple Kickstarters to produce small but detailed setting books with cool one-shots attached. From South American urban fantasy to high fantasy in space, and even secret agent shenanagins, there's truly something here for every gamer.
Best of all? These small setting books are pwyw for a digital copy, and the core rules (linked earlier in this post) are completely free.
I am sitting here, painting stuff, and thinking about my comic.
- I am starting to warm up to the idea of making the story revolve around the Goldendawn clan, and follow TaiYang as she navigates her daily life. Part of me really likes the idea of a slice of life comic in a fantastic situation. I have all these ideas for little plots and story arcs, and a few interesting things that I’d like to see work out.
So, as I said earlier, I am very tired, and still sick. As such, I probably won’t be drawing tonight, let alone sketching, so I figured I’d just ramble and stuff. I mean, this IS a blog I might as well use it for that.
I’m caught between the urge to just start my comic, work on my background “development” stuff, or work on short little drabbles to flush out concepts, I’m not really sure if any of these are a bad idea or not.
I wish I had more energy to work on my comic. When I think about how much more work I need in terms of improving my art, I want to give up. But I’d rather be producing something sub par, getting it out, and learning. Rather than just sitting and thinking about what I can’t do. I think things are coming together, and I feel like I know roughly what the story is going to be. I just need to make a few decisions and really determine what I want.
I really love TaiYang, and I think she’s an interesting lead. I just need to figure out what to do with her twin. I’m not sure if the two of them could bear to be apart, but then if they are traveling together, both the Goldendawn heirs would be out on a dangerous mission....hmm, the little things we creators get stuck over, I just thought I’d share some of my process here.
I little WiP I’ve been working on. I’ve very excited to design this character! This is Svero, a Vuk sword fighter and body guard. She is one of my first transgender Vuk I’ve designed! And I think she looks really cool! I fell in love with the hood design and think it’s a nice balance between clothes and armor. Most Vuk don’t really wear much armor, as their regeneration and toughness make them more than fit to take most attacks!
I was incubating this concept all week. I’m not sure if she will end up being used for anything. But this is Fyrra, an arcanist and diplomat. She is a very aloof person and rarely lets her true emotions show. But she’s a lady filled with her own ambitions and desires, ones that she often has to ignore for her duties =P
