Hero Type | Giovanni + Lusamine

Giovanni was enjoying a cup of Komala Coffee at the Tapu Village Pokémon Center, a drink he was becoming more and more fond of as he spent time in the region. He’d found most of Akala Island rather uninteresting when compared to Hau’oli and Heahea city, but the history behind the destroyed town had captured his interest enough to warrant a visit. The Tapu Guardians seemed massively powerful, and Giovanni was never one to pass over learning more about legendary Pokémon.
He’d bought a book on the subject and was scanning it with interest when loud noise echoed in the distace, shaking the foundation of the building. Most of the Center’s patrons stopped what they were doing to look up, and as they did another—much louder—boom shuddered through the building. Several people shouted and Giovanni reached instinctively for a Poké Ball, hand curling around the Safari Ball containing his Rhyperior. He couldn’t see anything from the windows, but a moment later there was another earth-shaking explosion.
The doors of the Pokémon Center slid open to admit a small gaggle of panicked citizens, and from them Giovanni caught mention of the source of all the commotion: an Ultra Beast.
Giovanni was well aware how dangerous the creatures known as 'Ultra Beasts' were. Some of them purportedly had the power to level entire blocks or cities if roused to anger. Naturally, that kind of destructive potential had a certain appeal to him. He'd been on the wrong side of deadly legendary Pokémon before, but despite his inability to effectively control Mewtwo he was no less interested in capturing one of the inter-dimensional creatures.
His source—who knew Guzma would end up being so useful?—had informed him of the existence of a type of Poke Ball that could do just that. Capture was not quite as assured as with a Master Ball, but these were marginally easier to come by. Apparently Interpol had been in possession of most of the Aether Foundation's remaining stock and was using them to protect the population. Giovanni didn't trust that in the slightest, but he wasn't about to get involved with any trench coat wearing detectives—not willingly, at least.
So, all in all it was an extremely high risk situation to be heading directly toward the source of so much commotion and fear. But Giovanni wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to learn more about the creatures he’d come all the way to Alola to find. As made for the door, however, he saw he wasn’t the only one running in the wrong direction. A tall woman with long blonde hair was also on her feet and moving to the exit. Stranger still, Giovanni realized he recognized her: Lusamine, president of the Aether Foundation and researcher of Ultra Beasts.
The whole story of what had transpired between her and the region's newly-crowned Champion was still shrouded in mystery, but Giovanni felt safe in assuming that she was here to put a stop to the creature—out of obligation or a desire similar to his, it was still impossible to say.
Giovanni had never been a trainer of the heroic variety, but he’d faced off against enough of them to know roughly what it looked like. “Hold on,” he said, placing a hand on her shoulder before she could activate the sliding doors. “If you’re going out there, I want to help.”
