I’m teaming up with Aetherflow Media to promote artists selling FFXIV merchandise at conventions this summer, but I need help finding them!
Whether it’s charms, prints, or commissions, or anything else you’ve created, let me know what con(s) you’ll be at and what you’re selling, and Aetherflow Media will feature you in my brand-new series “Wondrous Sundries: The FFXIV Player's Guide to Artist Alley Loot.”
We want to promote absolutely as many artists as we possibly can, so please don’t be afraid to reach out! Even just reblogging this post to get the word out is a huge help!

So tell me more about Mercer’s role is leading the activities of Aetherflow Investigations?
Does leadership come naturally to him? Or are there some things he prefers to delegate? What is his leadership style? Are there any leaders he models himself upon?
Thanks so much for this question! So, Mercer isn't actually the owner nor leader of Aetherflow Investigations. The owner/leader is one Liyaya Liya. A very curious lalafell with more gil than she knows what to do with and a rather significant interest in rare magical items and occurrences. Though, he does hold a leadership position as the person in charge of required reconnaissance efforts. That said, things are small at the moment, so he's not exactly leading much of anything or anyone. As for his leadership skills, Mercer doesn't really see himself as much of a leader. He thinks he's the soldier type. Give him orders and he will just fall in line. The reality of the situation is that he's wrong. He's not good at taking orders and never really has been. If he's got an opinion about your orders, you're absolutely going to hear it. And, in a situation that id devoid of leadership he will step up and take the reins. He's done this far more than he's willing to admit to himself and he's actually well suited to it. In a gruff military commander sort of way. I'd say that sort of stepping up is probably something that comes naturally to him. He's the sort that wants to get things done and will step up and make sure that they get done and that they get done right. Or, at least, his definition of right.
I can't say that he really idolizes any leaders. He's got a huge chip on his shoulder when it comes to the city-states and their governmental officials. Limsa is the only city-state he's not going to loudly complain about, but even then he's not a fan of how everything is run and certainly wouldn't hold up any official as some sort of solid example. But this probably isn't an odd belief structure to have when you were born and raised in the Brume before there was any reformation of Ishgard. He's got big issues with nobility, authority, politicians, and clergy. For obvious reasons.
I think the closest two people he would look up to are his Master (and adoptive mother) Sasari Sari and Cid. That said, he and Sari don't lead in similar ways at all, so I think it's more of a sense of respect rather than using her as an example. Cid is just hero worship. He's never met the owner of Garlond Ironworks. It's just a situation of him looking at this really talented engineer who has built so many truly amazing things and wishing he could be half of that. Which is probably less related to leadership and more about the engineering aspect of things.
Thanks so much for the ask!
