I wonder how much of this is normal behavior for a baby Gem, and how much is faulty programming from Amethyst’s overcooking? The baby Ruby from the Ruby Squad seemed kind of vacant and confused, and she’d been getting socialization for weeks at that point. Wasn’t there a baby Amethyst from Pink’s first trip to the Kindergarten that popped right out of the wall and started communicating, though? Should I treat that as hard truth or just as an incidental part of the story Pearl was telling? It would certainly make for a more interesting “infancy” if most Gems came out of the wall like this, but...Hrm. Ignoring Pearl, as Pearls are fancy custom jobs, Ruby and Sapphire after the factory reset were already cogent and communicative when they reformed. It could be a condition built into the Rejuvenators, but then Amethyst would have been the same...I guess this is probably just Amethyst’s birth condition, not a look at general Gem infancy.
