Fuzzy Thoughts - Finding Inspiration in a Photo
"A picture paints a thousand words" the old saying goes. But... I did not intend to become slightly obsessed with two fictional characters this winter because of said picture... and yet... here I am.
It started here. ↑ I've seen Miami Vice Smuggler's Blues at least - at.least. - thirty times. I've seen this promo photograph a few dozen times more while web surfing, googling, and living in fan spaces. Then came the day the mind clicked: That looks like a late 1800s wedding photo. And there you go. ↓ There it is. ↓ Now I can't NOT see that.
To add to the inspiration is the genuine chemistry these two guys had from their meeting to their dyadic scene in a hole-in-the-wall room.
And, of course, since I tend to a multi-universe view of all fandoms all the time and reject the notion of OTP in all fandoms except STTOS [Because K/S defined Slash making it the OTP by virtue of Firsts.] — these two guys have become my latest slashy rare-pair.
Like I need a reason to be sidetracked into another weird ass series of fanfiction stories... I don't. But... just look at them. ↓ There's a "they're" there.
So... as I've said before: Here I am. One story, two story, three story? More. This is ridiculous - I'm planning on FOUR.
Because now there's this ↑ photo of our boys all growed up, suited up for business, adulting, and shit. Wasn't planning on another AO3 series based in the Miami Vice universe. But - fuck it - HERE I AM.
The Affinity Blues Series is where these two get their ya-yas out and is posted on AO3 [linked titles] with 2/4 stories done and a WIP. Cartagena Blues, Liminal Blues, and WIP Arecibo Blues are up. There is an actual outline for the final fourth story, so chances are good the series will be wrapped up by summer... and if I stumble... I'll find a photo to inspire me.
