A friend in low places? (AFILP)
You nailed it on the first try! We bow to your abilities!
Coincidentally, it’s also the story that I happened to be working on right when this guess was sent in.
The continuation of Brothers Saved is a story cowritten with @borrowedtimeandspace, A Friend in Low Places!
As it turns out, while Sam and Dean are waiting in a motel for their dad to finish up a hunt, another person spots the brothers and decides to help. Of course, his idea of help isn’t something they’re looking for, as he decides to ‘free’ Dean from his younger (giant) brother.
Using a hand to steady himself, John carefully peered over the edge to observe this person. He blinked as the bright colors and quickly moving images on the television blared at his dark-accustomed eyes, and it took effort to focus on the borrower.
It was hard to tell with the boy facing away from John, but he was the kind of lean that one expects a kid to be when they've started to grow, still catching up and building up body mass for his adult stature. The fact that he seemed transfixed on the cartoon meant for young humans was just another giveaway.
There was no time to be appalled. Something at the back of John's neck tingled, and he had enough experience with the feeling to know that there wasn't much time.
The human would be returning soon.
John hauled himself up onto the surface of the nightstand and, with all the silent swiftness that a lifetime in the walls afforded him, he lifted the kid up by the shoulders and wrapped his arms around them, pinning the younger borrower's arms to his chest in case he struggled.
"We've gotta go!" John hissed urgently.
