jokes aside i really do love this piece. experimented with a lot of brushes too :] it's supposed to parallel a scene in my writing, whiiich... i will put below
two big pieces i did for andrew's (kinda) birthday :]
i reaaallly like these so ramble under cut
GOD. so many layers. wilson's took like 20 seconds just to save. but i realllyyy like them. plus i got to experiment with lighting and stuff which was fun :]
so. as you can. probably see. much symbolism/details i put into these. which i will explain now.
ANDREW:
Snake of course, represents sin, and the lamb sacrifice/purity
the lamb also has blood around where the snake is wrapped. AND andrew has blood under his nails.
Halo for holiness
the red of the coat represents both romance and chaos at the same time, while the blue is more calm/peace. it also represents loyalty. *squints at my notes* i also wanted the red to be "overtaking" the blue, for the romance/chaos is overtaking the loyalty Andrew has to his religion
adding onto that last point, andrew is not wearing his cross necklace, which he never takes off :]
yellow tulips represent happiness, while tulips in general for deep unconditional love and spiritual rebirth. also in my story im writing they're the flowers Wilson gives to him on their first date :]
WILSON:
Apple tie + snake for sin, however Wilson is embracing it, while the other snake is wrapped around Andrew as if to choke him.
He's doing the as above/so below pose (hello baphomet)
the smoke behind him is, while dim, the colors of fire (red/orange/yellow) for hell, and the wood mirrors that as well.
the two branches above Wilson's head look like demon horns :]
also. side note. anyone who uses firealpaca to draw. dear god the smoke brush is laggy. if you're going to use it use it LAST, especially if you're doing it with a high thickness/a lot of it. i had to save Wilson's background to another file while i worked on him just so it wouldn't lag to hell.
side side note. wilson tooth gap. and his belly peeks out over the frame. the. <3
ANYWAYS. my ocs. i love them so. andrew's birthday is actually feb 29th but that doesn't happen this year so i posted it today :] i also really like this style of painting and am already doing another oc thing with it so expect more :] aaaand. if. anyone has any questions about these two... i am always willing to ramble. my askbox is open.
