+ @afoolshot asked: fingers run through long hair as aaron believes alexander to be asleep. dark eyes half-lidded, he presses a kiss to the end of the tresses. a quiet display of affection he would not afford if he believed the other was aware of it; tiny silences he cannot help but take to. Always Accepting ( burr being affectionate, i die )
There are moments, in the quiet pre-dawn hours, where what they have is perfect. Alexander knows that perfect is a word Burr would scoff at, which is why his lips twitch slightly when he thinks it. They are a mess, they always will be, but it works. It works in a way that neither has suspected it will. So he stands by the idea that it is perfect, especially in these moments, even if the word never actually leaves his lips.
Laying next to his soulmate like this is easy. A place he fits so well that he can hardly believe he ever questioned it in the first place. Eyes lidded so heavily that it’s no real surprise that Burr believes him asleep. Alex follows the movement of the younger man’s hand, has to force himself to be silent as fingers move through his hair. There is something beautiful about Burr in this moment. Not that he isn’t always beautiful, Alexander thinks that he is, but the way that he looks now is almost serene. Any other time, he would call the man out, let him know he’d been seen, but he finds he cannot take this private moment from him.
Something does bloom in his chest, however. Warm and steady and he knows that he wants more of it. That he wants this feeling. That he loves Burr and this gentle affection, in the middle of the night, is something he wants for the rest of his life. Even if Alexander is never able to tell Burr that he knows it happens, even if he must always allow it to be a private moment for his soulmate, he wants it.
Burr is beautiful.
Alexander is in love.
The world is a very strange place.
